Pros: I bought this unit in case i had to use it, and i did. I just transfered my 320gig SATA drive into a 1TB usb external drive and it work great (on MAC OS and disk utility). So now i have a bigger Time Machine drive .
Cons: The power adapter is big, like for a power adaptor for laptop.
Other Thoughts: You have to be careful when plug the sata connector not to break it. There also a led on it. Red = hard drive not ready, green= hard drive ready. I didn't have ny problem detecting the hard drive on windows or mac OS. I have tested 3.5" IDE and SATA, but the 2.5", but it should be working.
Bottomline: Very usefull for anybody doing transfert, or whant to plug an old IDE drive to tranfert backup. It include all the cable you need, didn't have to use the cd included.
Pros: Worked fine for every hard drive I tested...Nice for backup, virus cleaning, and stuff...You can use it to install programs on netbooksDo not need extra drivers on windows XPBivolt power supply
Cons: The build quality of the power supply is poor, but worked fine untill nowThe body of the device is translucid, when turned on, we get a red light... I dont like, but thats not a big deal!
Other Thoughts:
Bottomline: The adapter has more than all the connectors type I have already seen, including the notebook onesSome of them I will never use, but I'm happy to be sure I will plug all the popular drives
Pros: It´s a very useful device. I used it to extract data from laptop disks and wipe viruses. You only need the supplied external power source with 3.5" disks. USB power is enough for 2.5" disks.
Cons: The data transfer speed could be better, but who cares? It´s just an emergency device, if you plan to use a disk as external device on a daily basis, an external case is a better option.
Other Thoughts: The power cord is supplied with an American type plug, European people must use our proper standard cord.
Bottomline: Be careful managing naked hard disks, avoid shortcuts.
Pros: working from right out of the box. used it to recovered lots of data from the older ide hard drives that were lying around. a couple of them had to be knocked on the table a couple of times and one had to be placed upside down to read the data, but this is not an issue with the device. reading the laptop hard drives with ease.
Cons: if the price a little lower that would be nice. especially when the exchange rate btw can$ and u$ is so far now.
Other Thoughts: get one if you do some kind of data recovery. it is good for ide, laptop hd, and sata. very good device
Bottomline: if price is lower, would not mind to buy another one. already thinking about buying one as spare just in case the current one dies.
