Pros: It's small, that alone is five thumbs up from my point of view.Cheap, you can get similar products cheaper, but the size really is worth it.Extremely easy to use.Basic design makes it great for pretty much any use.
Cons: Slightly weak build quality, but considering that most uses for this is in enclosed electronics that doesn't actually matter much. Not good if you plan to be connecting/disconnecting all the time.
Other Thoughts: I bought this to use with my Popcorn Hour network media tank which is buildt to use 3.5" HDDs. I had tried a similar product from a local vendor, but it turned out to not actually fit into the PCH's casing. This design does not use a circuitboard, which most other solutions do, making it perfect for just such use.
Bottomline: I love it, bought several in case I need them for other things. If you need to connect a 2.5 drive to a 3.5 connector, look no further.
Pros: - Cheap, very very cheap.- It has a protected circuitboard rather then open wireing patches that could short-circuit.- Works flawlessly
Cons: - Does not have a "PIN1" indicator, need to "guess" which side is pin 1- Device feels very fragile
Other Thoughts: They should have made it slightly stronger, I fear breaking it if I (un)plug it.
Bottomline: It works, nothing special about it, all it does is rewire power and IDE signal to laptop disks, no chips or any other stuff. Does it's job.Buy it! It can be very usefull if you want those small formfactor drives in a lowpower/silent PC.
Pros: Super duper cheeeeeeap!Really smallGood for a few usesWorks with 40 pin hdd connectors
Cons: Used it four times, it erased and ruined a 60gb HDD with over 40gb of music and videos. No backup. No instructions at all, you have to guess which way to put the connectors.Power cable shorted out after trying to fixPins bend
Other Thoughts: Dont buy it!
Bottomline: Get a better hdd connector. A $2 item ruined a $150 laptop drive. I would stick with a usb hdd enclosure ($20, still cheap)
Pros: It does Just what it is supposed to do! It converts an older laptop hard drive so you can install it into a desktop for diagnostic reasons or just to free up room in your case by using smaller hard drive.
Cons: It is easy to put the desktop cable on wrong with this adapter. The build quality is pretty cheap.
