Ownership verified by DX great for using a CF card in an old laptop

Pros: I was able to remove an old noisy IDE 2.5" drive from my vaio pcg-sr9, and replace it with a 4gb CF card (sandisk extreme III).
Fits the 2.5" bay dimensions perfectly.

Cons: There is an extra pin on the IDE interface that I needed to bend out of the way by hand, which felt clumsy but fixed the problem easily.

Other Thoughts: My laptop has no CD drive, so to install an operating system I fitted my CF card into this adapter, and then this adapter to an IDE to USB adapter SKU.10113.
Then i unplugged the SATA HDD from my computer, and plugged the above into the USB port, and booted up Xubuntu from a live CD.
I was then able to install xubuntu on the CF HDD, which i then installed into the laptop drive bay and it worked!!! Just needed to adjust the screen settings.

Bottomline: Bring an old laptop back to life with CF memory, and xubuntu, (poor mans EEE PC)

Ownership verified by DX Better than the short models.

Pros: -better suited for most applications
-easier to insert in most laptops due to sliding-insertion technique
-same size as a standard 2.5 inch hard drive

Cons: -single CF (i've seen some that fit 2 CF cards into the same formfactor)

Other Thoughts: I use this for a laptop running Damn Small Linux. Fast, silent, low power consumption makes it ideal for laptops that are used for only web browsing or notetaking. DO NOT USE THESE WITH WINDOWS XP!!! XP will kill smaller cards because of the page file.

Bottomline: This is better than the short models. You can easily tape this onto the stock laptop HD tray and slide it in, whereas the short adapters are harder to align.
