Pros: - Seems well built, and very bright for is stated 5mw output, which suggests it may be doing even more.- Small, and I mean quite small. it is a lot smaller than I had expected it to be.- No power fluctuations.- Adjustable focus.- Reasonable price.
Cons: - Could be a little cheaper.- Was backordered for quite some time.- Easy to kill the diode if you barely go over 5V input (Seems like 4V would be a better rating.
Other Thoughts: - Would be nice if it still worked thru the spring terminal on the back.- Maybe also with the switch still included, but not a big worry as they are easy enough to find and solder in if needed.
Bottomline: Great module, producing more power than it's rated for, and for a reasonable price. Good for little projects that require a small, bright laser :)
Pros: - Amazing value- They're green! That's a pro in itself- For the most part, powerful for a 5mw-rated module
Cons: -Build quality is only ok; they look a bit rough-and-ready when received, but who cares at this price level-Power output seems to be a bit hit-and-miss; some modules are brighter than others. This can be fixed by adjust the pot, though
Other Thoughts: I bought 12 of these little beauties for a laser harp project I'm working on, and for the price, they can't be beaten. Some of the modules I received were considerably dimmer than others, but I was able to fix this by tweaking the potentiometers on the control boards (after cutting the heatshrink away)...though was careful not to take things too far, or the diodes might blow. I've just tested them on a pair of 1.5V AA's, and they're brilliant to be honest. In a daylit room, you can still just about make out a beam from the light reflecting off any dust in the air. I've not tested in a dark room yet.
Bottomline: Just a fantastic module at a price level that's way below any other you'll find. Some adjustment may be needed to the pot and be careful to stick to 3V max input, but other than that...I love 'em.
Pros: Great laser! I love green lasers hehehe. Power output is really 5mW and it looks very nice. Great for DIY. This a genuine NewWish laser.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Great laser for DIY. Its very cheap and works very well.
Bottomline: If you want a low power green laser diode, this is the one to get!
Pros: Excellent laser for the price, I'd guess about 5-10mw in output. Comparable to about 1/4 of my DX 50mw.
Cons: Don't try and mess with the POT. It's rated for 5V and I only have a 4V supply, so I maxed the pot and blew it under 1 second. It worked fine with 3V, so stick to <5V and don't mod it.
Other Thoughts: Would have loved to see the beam at night, but I blew it rather quickly ;) ** my own fault! See pics for the insides as I have stripped it.
Bottomline: Nice for OEM products, mini laser shows etc. Build your own :) Or mod this into a flashlight (not sure if it will run under 3V).
