Pros: this thing is about a 10th of the price of other CF to IDE adapters.Build quality appears to be good and the instructions included are actually USEFUL for once.
Cons: throughput speed. As others reviewers have noted this thing is SLOW.Probably NOT good as a main HDD in a laptop or desktop.
Other Thoughts: Good for use in mobile devices such as pdas or media players with an IDE function (like ipods with a HDD)
Bottomline: If you just need a SSD to test hardware or software you are compiling and don't need fast read/write speeds then get it.
Pros: It works like a charm. Just plug in the CompactFlash Card, power (5V) and IDE Cable and you have a solid state harddisk for a very low price.Nice build quality, no problems whatsoever with loose connectors.
Cons: But the speed was disappointing.
Other Thoughts: I used it with a standard Sandisk 2 Gbyte CompactFlash Card but that was to slow for normal use as solid state harddisk. Then I bought a 133x Kingston 8 Gbyte CompactFlash Card. I used that card together with this adapter as harddisk in a Pentium 4 (2.4 GHz) system. The installation of Windows XP Pro SP3 took more then 3 hours to complete! Once installed, it still was very hard to normaly use the PC because of the slow speed. Without swapfile, it was better, but still to slow for normal use. After this I placed a conventional HD and reinstalled XP in less then 25 minutes!!
Bottomline: Nice gadged for a low price, but I am now searching for a new use for this adapter, because the speed is to slow for use of solid state harddisk with Windows on it. Maybe it might be better with Linux on it?
Pros: Cheap and good CF to ATA converter, even UDMA works perfect. I've never found a cheaper CF to ATA adaptor.. The build quality is fine.
Cons: Most of the CF cards aren't too fast so when you are using it to install your OS on have alot of patience.
Other Thoughts: I really like it. It's one of the cheapest CF to ATA converters that I've found on the internet. In The Netherlands we have several webshops selling _EXACTLY_ the same CF adaptor but they sell them for 10 euro's.. This converter is way cheaper.
Bottomline: Really nice and cheap CF to ATA converter. If you need it, buy it ;)
Pros: Very good one. Bought it as replacement of almost the same adapter that refused to support UDMA-33 transfers due to the wrong wiring. This one works perfect and my ST1 Seagate micro drive finally works in UDMA-33.Soldering is good, it even comes with user manual. Master/slave switch.Works with flash cards and micro drives (CF-II type)
Cons: I didn't found any so far.
Other Thoughts: I wish it has a second CF socket soldered on the back side.
Bottomline: Perfect adapter specially for the low price.
