Pros: Works just fine playing just about all formats, not H.264, but plays all the formats listed in the description.
There's little to no audio lag until you get to some higher quality videos but mostly unnoticeable.
Easy to use interface and quite easy to intall the HDD into the enclosure, and the unit keep nice and cool, which seems to be a problem for some of the cheaper units without a fan.

Cons: THE RECORD FUNCTION DOESN'T WORK!
Don't buy this as a recorder, the recorded video goes blank every couple of minutes and comes back whenever it feels like it.
The indicator LED lights on the front are WAY too bright, they literally blind you in a dark room.
The fan's a little noisy but once the movie gets rolling it's not really that bad.
The unit did not come with any warranty or product support information.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy the unit unless you're willing to accept the loss if it doesn't work properly, because Dealexreme probably wont replace it. After I found mine to be faulty I emailed them for a replacement to which they replied "Since the product are not manufactured or designed by DX, regarding the problem you’re facing to, would you please refer to the product reviews of this item or post your question on our forum to check if any useful information provided there", and that's the last I heard of it and they wont reply to my emails anymore.

Bottomline: It's a good quality player, but don't buy it for recording.

Pros: Easy to setup. Using 1TB hard drive too, no probs.

Cons: Can't find where to get the firmware update for it? no website nothing? Not sure about puting all my pictures in folders cause i'm not sure how to slide show entire disk for pictures instead of just one single folder of pictures...

Other Thoughts: Just want a firmware update to see if it will play the audio in my cameras videos.. avi's... I have a canon camera, records avi's. but this system seems to not like the audio for some reason. Just plays the video. The record function is cool, but i have a rear projector television so it's extra blurry when watching recorded material or my pictures... will have to try the new tv's i guess to see if it's better.

Bottomline: I love it. Just want a firmware update to see if it fixes a few things or not.

Cons: Fan it a bit noisy, but ok.
Boot up is slow. Not sure if this is related to the huge hard disk I installed.
On screen text looks a bit rough.
Holes/slots in the front look a bit cheap

Other Thoughts: I installed a 1Tb (1000Gb) WD hard disk, formatted it for FAT32 using a WD tool (downloadable from WD) and it worked just fine. You can't use windows (vista to XP) to format such a large disk.
It takes a 3.5 inch drive (not a 2.5) as incorrectly listed in the description.

Bottomline: Get it.

Pros: This exactly what is needed for a "entertainment" library. I love this DVR for loading my library of Avi movies instead of burning copies of my DVD's and CD's. Also love the record option when you don't have the time to watch it on T.V. Comes with a card reader on the front as well so you can load pictures to view on your T.V.

Cons: Was a little disappointed that it didn't have a HDMI option on it,after doing alot of research on DVR units it seems that you buy one option or another. Ex. 1 came with HDMI but no record, and this came with record but no HDMI. I also am not a fan of din power supply which is what is used on this unit,and fan is really noisy.

Other Thoughts: The manual it comes with is very vague,so it might be a little tough if you have never used an enclosure like this, but not that hard to figure out on your own either.

Bottomline: Overall its a nice unit to have if you like storing your movies/music on 1 large library,and having them at your disposal immediately at a touch of a button.
