Not long ago we loved playing emulator games on PCs with inexpensive joypads. We still do, but much of the love is now shared by this OneStation console. Although the console's design doesn't look as elegant as those newer gameboys, it does have many advantages over its counterpart. One killer feature is its ability to play many of the classic favourites including spy vs. spy, tank A 1990 and super mario bros. The other nice feature is the TV-out feature which doesn't usually come with gameboys off the shelf. By hooking the unit to a TV, the console acts as a joypad + console all in one. Seen those spongebob joypad-TV consoles at BestBuy for about $20? Get this instead and you will not regret.

Right now the only complaints that I have with the unit (other than the design of its casing), are one, it does not allow game saves with the current cartridge, and two, when batteries are low, the display becomes fuzzy. The information brochure inside the package (printed in Chinese) indicates that upcoming cartridges will add wireless multi-player, digital camera, and portable TV capabilities -- looking forward to them!

Ownership verified by DX Great gaming system for Gen-Xers and kids

Involvement: Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week

Price: starstarstarstarstar
Ease of Use: starstarstarstarstar
Build Quality: starstarstarstar
Usefulness: starstarstarstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstarstarstar

Pros: Very sharp screen. Better than I had thought it might be. TV-out seems unique to this hand-held console - very cool. The games are just like the original, not re-done versions. Some games I haven't seen since my Apple IIe days... quite the treat.

Cons: Buttons do have to be pressed harder that a typical game controller. It's a little smaller than I thought it would be, but not hard to handle.

Other Thoughts: For the price, you just can't beat it.

Bottomline: Buy two, you won't be sorry. If you only buy one, you'll never get to play it - everyone else will be playing it.

Pros: -Tons of classic games
-Very long battery life
-Good speaker
-Bright screen
-TV-Out rocks
-Free 99 in 1 game cartridge
-Although the A and B buttons are switched, I found it very comfortable while playing the games

Cons: -No headphone port
-Screen gets easily scratched
Although it has a very long battery life, I tried changing out the batteries when the screen started to flicker with brand new Duracell batteries but it wont turn on. I've tried other new batteries but it only starts with the at least one stock battery. Maybe its just mine but its pretty weird.

Other Thoughts:

Bottomline: Overall an excellent product

Ownership verified by DX Great portable 8-bit clone system!

Pros: Great screen, great audio, great battery life, nice TV output, nice controls, the 8-bit multigame packs are fantastic and really reasonably priced if you can find them.

Cons: Hard to find games for it these days (they're mostly sold out everywhere) ... the A and B buttons aren't correct for 8-Bit games, they should be placed B on the left and A on the right ... not a huge problem, but some 8-Bit games are un-playable in that setup.

Other Thoughts: Other than the button problem, it's a great system at a great price, and I wish I had gotten more of the game packs before they became so hard to find!!

Bottomline: If you love classic 8-bit games, this is a beautiful clone system. One of the best I've ever owned.

Usage Instructions Return to top

Simply snap in the included 99-IN-1 game cartridge with the included AAA batteries to begin playing.

Snowflakes (fuzziness) appears on screen when batteries are low. Changing batteries solves this issue.

The manual states that both NTSC and PAL formats are supported. However, some have reported that the TV-out's format may be determined by the cartridge being used, not by the console (similar to way DVDs work).
