Pros: If you need this specific conversion I recommend this. You get two cables which is nice, because both have a slightly different fit.
Cons: It would be nicer if the power connector was a little like a floppy drive power connector. It did not come with documentation. Don't know what it does jumper ? , according to the documentation ZIF connector it is RESERVED.
Other Thoughts: It can be difficult to figure out which way the ribbon cable attaches (i.e. which side is the top), and attache it exactly into the connector, no guides in ZIF. I figured it out with a little trial and error.
Bottomline: If you think you might use it, get it.

Pros: If you need this specific conversion I can highly recommend this. It works as it should. You get two cables which is nice, because both have a slightly different fit.
Cons: I think that the quality of the flat cables could have been better. In my case they were just slightly to broad, making it very hard to stuff the cable in the harddisk. Also the ZIF connector on the adapter could have been better.
Other Thoughts:
Bottomline: If you need this you are probably in for way less money than at a local store. That is if you are even able to find it, given it is such a specific uncommon item.
Awesome little device

Pros: This board made it possible to build a carputer using a 30 GB iPod hard drive. It is bootable and Windows went on without a problem. I haven't tried a different OS, but it should be the same. Came with two ribbon cables. The LEDs, power and disk access, are super bright.
Cons: It would be nicer if the power connector was a small one like a floppy disk drive power connector. It didn't come with any documentation. There is a jumper and I think it is for master or slave select. I left it the way it came and it worked great.
Other Thoughts: I haven't tried any long term testing, but it loaded and booted Windows just fine. You can not make it much smaller because of the size of the 40 pin IDE connector.
Bottomline: If you think you might use it, get it. You can use 1.8" hard drives to save space and keep the noise down.

Pros: Great price - how can you go wrong?
Did the job to help fix my iPod.
Cons: ZIF clip seems a little flimsy, but I don't know how they could really make it any stronger, given how small it is. It can be a little difficult to figure out which way the ribbon cable attaches (i.e. which side is the top). I figured it out with a little trial and error.
Other Thoughts: I successfully used this to hook up a 5g iPod hard drive to my PC to run Spinrite. Worked great.
Bottomline: If you have 5g iPod disc problems, you can't afford not to pick this up. What have you got to lose? Other connectors like this, across the net, can be very expensive.
