Pros: Much cheaper than the branded version! This is great for those looking to diffuse their flash for shots from wide to tele. I have nice soft light across 12mm. This is amazing considering without the diffuser the pop up would not be able to spread over such a wide angle. The diffuser is large but can easily be stored in your camera bag. This is really nice for quick portraits when you don't want to break out the flash gun or strobes. If you are not using Manual flash on your nikon, and are using TTL..make sure you bump up the flash to compensate for the diffuser otherwise you will have dark images.
Cons: The diffuser has 5 holes on each side so you can adjust the height of it against your flash. Unfortunately, most of the holes will not allow the peg to enter, possibly due to a poor mold. There is a bit of work involved to open up the entry point to allow the pegs of the Black Plastic holder to squeeze into the white diffuser. There is no option to move the diffuser closer to the flash, this would make it much more useful. The flash is about 1.5 inches away from the diffuser and light manages to jump out from the edges making your photos have almost an outline of harsh light.
Other Thoughts:
Bottomline: Light modifiers are a great learning tool for those learning how to control the light. For this price, go on ahead and buy it. You will not be disappointed.
Pros: I hate the popup flash of my camera, it makes people's faces pale, and removes the depth of field. This diffuser softens the effects of flash and photos are smoother now. It is easy to use and fits the external flash foot.
Cons: I thought it would come in all colors. If the object is more than 3 meters, flash is so softened pictures may become very dark. The camera seems a little bit funny fit the tool
Other Thoughts: I would like to have other colors and some thinner diffuser, if it existed.
Bottomline: Good deal for the price, don't miss it if you use popup flash of your slr
Pros: A cheap flash diffuser for taking pictures indoor. I mainly use this to take pictures of products to sell. This is useful for the product packaging that has shiny packaging that reflects back the flash now the photos appear better and brighter w/o the flash appearing in the photo.
Cons: Wish it did include the other filters but white is all I really need it.
Other Thoughts: I hope this will make it over 500 characters now.
Bottomline: For $4 I thought it included 3 filters but like I said I don't really care for it but nice to have.
Pros: This is a pretty easy thing to recommend anyone that carry's a mid to lower range SLR camera. The results are evident as soon as you see the first photo you take with it, and if you can't tell the difference then you simply do a test to remind your brain what the difference is. It really softens the overall feel of the flash but the image stays sharp as usual given that you are doing things right.
Cons: This is a very inexpensive photographic tool, there is not much to hate on it besides the fact that it does add a bit of bulk to your camera but its not enough to justify a real con.
Bottomline: For this kind of price you might as well get it, even if you only use it a few times its provided its moneys worth, very few photographic tools that actually change the output of a camera for the better cost this little.
