Pros: - Very cheap- Good quality image for wii- Build quality in chinese- Remote is very responsive- Build quality is great for the price
Cons: - TV image quality is below par- TV sound quality makes it unusable- Xbox 360 is unplayable on this device through my 22" widescreen monitor
Other Thoughts: The menu is in chinese when you first install it but you can navigate your way to an English menu though it isn't easy.
Bottomline: Good if you want to play a nintendo wii on your monitor, else stay away from this product.
Pros: - The Remote is very responsive and there is no need to directly point at the device in order to change channels etc.- Reception of TV channels (analog only, of course) in acceptable quality.- The built-in speaker is fun, but of course there is a 3.5mm line out port, so that you can connect it to external audio devices (speakers)- The unit works good enough, as I thought it would be working before ordering (=turn my CRT monitor to a full-featured TV including AV inputs). Since my country's TV system is not supported, though, I'm mostly limited to the use of the AV inputs! :-( But it will be OK for people in other countries!
Cons: - The On-Screen Menu is in Chinese!!! So is the instruction manual. The English manual scans provided by DealExtreme in the product description page do not cover the OSD options, thus I cannot be sure of what each option does. You have to test the options for yourself and try to find out what each one of them does.- There seems to be an option to choose between PAL D/K and PAL I modes, in the unit I received at least. If your country's TV system is one of these, then you are lucky. My country's TV system is PAL B/G and therefore I can get a good enough picture but the sound I get from the channels is heavily distorted because B/G is not supported by the unit.- There is a pass-through VGA port, so that you can have your PC connected to your LCD monitor and switch between the PC and TV/AV using the remote. Very convenient. However, it seems to me that the colors I get on screen when using the PC via the unit are not as vivid as before. My brother didn't even notice it, so maybe I'm just too picky, but I did notice this the very first moment I used it this way.
Other Thoughts: Didn't have the chance to connect a device to the A/V inputs and test the image quality. I thought a review was really needed as there was none for a very long time, so I decided to post my review anyway and post a follow-up/comment when I test the image quality of the A/V inputs as well.
Bottomline: Quite a good buy for the money, having seen units of similar capabilities in other stores retailing at double the price. If your country's TV system is PAL D/K or PAL I (so that the TV tuner works well) then I think you won't be disappointed for the price.
