Ownership verified by DX Works with Lego Mindstorms NXT

Pros: This USB Bluetooth radio dongle is really useful.

It took some fiddling to get it to work, but once I installed a version of Widcomm and played with the connection it paired with the Lego Mindstorms NXT intelligent brick quite well. I was able to use several bluetooth COM ports at the same time, with no problems, as well as remote control my lego robot.

Cons: If I move my NXT down the hallway (with line-of-sight to my laptop,) the signal dropoff is slight.

But if I duck into a door down the hallway, the signal drops very steeply (and sometimes disconnects.)

Other Thoughts: It has a blinky light that blinks less if you use Widcomm instead of windows xp's bluetooth.

Some people might find this blinking LED to be annoying.

This bluetooth dongle uses low power consumption. I can run it on an unpowered, crappy USB hub (on a laptop) with my Wacom graphics tablet, and a 0-power-consumption USB interface for my electronics project all at the same time.

It also seems to work with extension cables.

Windows XP's bluetooth works with this, but I can't get it to pair with my NXT.

Bottomline: If you don't know which USB bluetooth dongle to get from DX, get this one. It's good for XP, can support multiple devices, and has a modest range and price.

Pros: The plastic feels sturdy enough, no need to throw it on the floor, do you? The cap fits nice and tight on the bt body, so no worries in losing the cap.
The connection is easily made (at least with xp). You really don't need any drivers.

Cons: As sturdy as the cap is, as easy you can lose it. After all, you don't need a cap when you put the dongle in the pc.
The dongle came without software, so you have to surf around to find any software, again bluesoleil.

Other Thoughts: Not really.

Bottomline: Good value, using it right now while typing this stuff. Look around for bluesoleil and you will find it ;).
