Ownership verified by DX An economical improvement to the Surefire 6x line

Pros: Extremely bright LED light. Much less fragile than the incandescent bulb. The entire assembly drops right in (after removing the outer spring, which pulls right off) and directly replaces the P60 bulb assembly in my Surefire 6p and 6z lights. Light remains usable over the entire life of the batteries. I replaced the bulb in a Surefire 6z with old batteries that would give inconsistent flickering light with the old incandescent bulb, but steady and bright white light with the new LED bulb. Gets the most out of the batteries!

Cons: Pretty hard to find something to complain about. Surefire wants $40 for an LED upgrade bulb, and I doubt it could be worth it when you can buy 4 upgrade bulbs from DX for the same price.

Other Thoughts: Remember to remove the outer spring before installing into your lights, or else the bezel won't screw down all the way and will leave a gap (which could compromise the water-resistance of the light). Because these can handle up to 18 volts, I'm thinking now about upgrading to the rechargeable batteries (that run at slightly higher voltage when fully charged) for even more power!

Bottomline: Buy one for every Surefire you own that uses the P60 bulb! You have no reason not to.

Ownership verified by DX Very Bright Unit

Pros: Wide voltage range.
Straight replacement for standard drop-in-unit.
Very bright will low power consumption.
Long life bulb!
Works with CR123A 3.7v Rechargable batteries!

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: A good, powerful, sturdy drop-in-unit to replace or upgade you exhisting unit. I didn't need to mod the unit in any way, just drop in and switch on.

Bottomline: My $20 flashlight now performs like one that would cost several times this price, all due to this relatively inexpensive ($12) unit.
I am tempted to mod all of them now ;)

Pros: Bright. Well-built for the price. An unbelievably improvement over the Xenon bulb that used to power my Cabelas XPG.

Cons: None that come to mind.

Other Thoughts: A good multimode with the same quality as this unit would be nice. SKU#11622 and SKU#13658 are disappointing (no memory and poor output). SKU#11074 looks promising, but has been out of stock for some time now.

Bottomline: After two months of practical use, my hat's off to DX. Great product! Note: Readers may also be interested in the R2 single-mode SKU#11836.

Ownership verified by DX Still a great bargain

Pros: Great insert (again) bright enough with 18650's, but really performs with CR123's and RCR123'a as well. Very nice color and intensity with 6V. The 3 I ordered for friends were closely matched in performance.

Cons: Nothing much to say here.

Other Thoughts: As usual, to make this insert perfectly reliable in You-know-what-Fire lights, it is important to remove the outer spring; then add a little solder to the base of the pill in 2 or more spots and flow it into the solder that secures the driver. Just add enough to make the solder wedge nicely into the shoulder inside the light. You should not have to force it in, but rather push it into place with light pressure. I have installed these type P60's into approximately 20 !@#$Fires with great results.

Bottomline: While I feel the R2 drop in is a little brighter and whiter (and now for a few pennies less) this Q5 still offers a good value for the money.
