I've heard of E-Sky's Honey Bee series helicopters since high school. They are definitely one of the long lasting and legendary brands around the world. Although more expensive helicopters have 6-channel controls, 4-channel helicopters are much easier to learn. The main advantage of 6-channel controls is their ability to fly inverted, and is likely unnecessary for leisure pilots anyway (it is not easy to fly up side down).
If you are a beginner, get some cheap replacement blades from the parts section below. They won't break easily but chances are that you will need them while you finish learning how to fly.
Pros: This Esky is such an easy one to start learning on , I had jumped straight in the deep end & bought a Walkera 1#B 6CH.It is a very good heli but just to hard to start of with .So i bought this & i am so amazed how easily it is to fly .Don't get to excited when i say this though, As there is still a lot of work that needs to be put in to this hobby.I got a little to confident when flying this after about 3 or 4 batteries, & as soon as i got to high, The wind blew & that was it, I was out of the sky & back on the net to stock up on some parts.Mind you, I had to buy from 3 different online stores just to get what i needed
Cons: I think DX should supply a crash kit for this, It will save everyone having to go all parts seperatly .DX should also offer the cheaper method of shipping which would be Via HK post,Yes yes i know it is Free shipping, But think about it, DX still would have to add on $20us or so to cover the cost of this to be sent to Australia .So for the people who don't mind waiting can also save a few extra bucks on shipping fee's .
Other Thoughts: I have also just upgraded the heli to the Exteme CNC Head & Extreme Tail .It does seem to heavy for the stock motors, But i will put bigger one's on once these blow .
Bottomline: Bottom line is, If you are looking into getting into the hobby, It is a must to at least start with a 4Ch, It will get you used to how the controls will work .Plus this Lama is not as sensitive , So it will make praticing easy .If it is your first time flying, Please , Please read this site firstIt will give you all the tips you need,http://www.dream-models.com/eco/flying-index.htmlPlus, do not be afraid to jump on to some good heli forums & ask some questions .Here is a few links that will give you a good look into the lama V3http://www.pimp-my-helicopter.com/store/lama-aluminum-upgrade-parts-article-5.html?cArticlePath=2http://www.heliguy.com/Forum/lama-v3-4-in-1-details-and-adjusments-t726.html
Pros: This helicopter is well built; it looks nice and flies perfect indoors. It is a little more difficult to fly it outdoors but if you know how to control it, it works fine (just do not try it with strong winds, it does not have enough power for this kind of conditions).I live in Mexico City, more than 2000 meters above sea level and this little thing goes up easy.It is good for beginners and if you are experienced it is good to teach how to fly and to have a good relaxing time.Dx have a lot of spare parts if you may need them, but taking care of it, it will last for a long time.
Cons: The price is a bit higher than other places.
Other Thoughts: I mentioned the price above, but if you consider none shipping costs at DX, you will get it at a good price. It would be nice that DX could lower the price a bit.If you are a beginner, get the training gear Sku 3370 and place it with rubber bands under the landing gear, you will feel at ease knowing that you will not brake it even though it is easy to fly.I want to get a Lama 4 but it comes only for 220v, it would be nice to have it 110v and at the same price as the Lama 3.
Bottomline: Buy it, you will have fun.
Pros: Its cheap. You get a spare set of rotor's. There's loads of replacement parts. There's loads of performance parts. Its very easy to get used to and learn to fly, on my 3rd day I was able to hover for short periods. There is lots of support on google for proper trimming instructions etc...
Cons: Tail boom is a little fragile, as are the blades.
Bottomline: This thing is awesome, since I've received it Im after catching the bug! I've already ordered a tool-set for it and some performance parts... I would recommend buying some spare parts WITH the helicopter though, my first set of blades only lasted a day.
Pros: -- Literally flies right out of the box. You might need to tighten a screw or two, but that's it.-- Much more durable than it looks. I've crashed about 20-25 times in my first week and have only had to readjust the blades to get .-- FUN FUN FUN. I've flown every day since I got my Lama and I've gone from scooting around slick concrete floors to flying outdoors IN WIND.
Cons: -- Some of the plastic parts are poor quality and will need to be replaced. I've already stripped two of the plastic blade holders and now they don't sit very tightly.-- The instruction manual is pretty vague. I suggest online R/C forums for any help you might need.
Other Thoughts: You see the guy flying this thing in the demo on this site, right? Well you can honestly be doing the same thing in about a week's time even if you've never flown before. I've never owned an R/C plane or heli in my life and I've gotten pretty good in a few days. You have GOT to fight the urge to fly around your living room right off the bat. Find somewhere with a slick floor and practice scooting around first. If you're having trouble with the heli constantly wanting to turn to the left in a circle, look up "lama v3 toilet bowl syndrome" and you'll find helpful answers on how to fine-tune the electronic unit inside the cockpit area.
Bottomline: This thing is a blast. If you're a new flier, you'll just be amazed that you're making it float around, it's a real kick! Everything you *need* comes in this package but I highly recommend the following items:-- Extra Mystery Lipo batteries. They take an hour to charge and fly for 10-15 minutes so you're going to want an extra or two.-- Extra, harder blades. You WILL break the original blades...likely, on the first day.-- Metal upgrades for the blade holders. Like I said, the plastic ones strip fairly easily.
** Never charge your lithium batteries longer than one hour even when battery is completely flat. Please disconnect the charger even if the indicator light is still red. Or your battery will be overcharged and damaged.

Note: This has tons of spare parts listed at the bottom of this page..* 1-Month Manufacturer Warranty: this warranty is offered directly by the manufacturer. Should the helicopter become defective (external damages such as breaks due to crashes excluded) within the manufacturer's warranty period, customers may send the unit back to DX's Hong Kong office. DX will help forwarding the item to the manufacturer for repair or replacement, and will look after the progress. The customer will need to cover shipping fees both ways.
1. Prior to initial use, fully charge the included lithium battery. The status light LED turns green on the charger adaptor when charging is done (this should take less than 1 hour). Don't connect the battery to the helicopter yet.
2. Next, make sure your remote control is switched to OFF and install the 8 included AA batteries into the remote control.
3. Important: before you turn on the remote control, pull both the throttle stick and the trim switch besides the stick all the way down. If you don't do this your helicopter will begin flying the second you connect its power - this must be avoided.
4. Now, turn on the remote control and check if the battery indicator light is at least yellow. If the light is green then it'd be even better.
5. Finally, install the the lithium battery into the helicopter by snapping the battery into the bottom of the helicopter. If you have done it correctly the battery should be held firmly in place. If all looks good, connect power to the helicopter. This is done by hooking up the red male plug on the battery to the red female plug on the helicopter.
After you connect power, the servos (black control units under the blades) will re-adjust themselves and make some noise in the process. This takes less than a second and is perfectly normal. Don't worry the blades won't begin turning (provided that you've followed step 3).
At this point, all is set. Follow the detailed flying tutorials in the user's manual that's easy enough even for beginners and fortunately it is fully printed in English.
