Pros: Well it worked great for me, I used this device to replace a damaged HDD in a ipod video. I wasnt able to get the ipod to sync using itunes, but instead I used rockbox on the ipod, and it worked GREAT! This thing saved one of my ipods!
Cons: The product seems like its made a little cheep, as the plastic clip used to hold the ribbon cable on the PCB came off, but I was easialy able to pop it back on. Besides that, nothing really wrong with this device, if you have a dead ipod HDD< this is your savior!
Bottomline: Probably one of the best things ive got on DX, again, they have alot of great things, but still! I recommend this to anyone who wants to try and revive a dead ipod HDD!

Pros: This item was pretty much plug and play with 32 GB CompactFlash cards as a hard drive replacement for my iPod Video 5.5 Gen. It worked fine with a Kingston 32 GB Elite Pro CompactFlash card rated at 133x and an A-Data Speedy 32 GB CompactFlash card (now discontinued). Inexpensive.
Cons: Like so many things sold on DealExtreme, you sometimes never know whether something will work with what you want to use it for (e.g. compatibility). Also, like so many items here, this comes with absolutely no instructions whatsoever so make sure you have read elsewhere on what the product might be used for.
Other Thoughts:
Bottomline: Works perfectly with a compatible CompactFlash card as an iPod hard drive replacement. Just make sure you know what you are doing. If you're not sure, read the other reviewer's comments and reviews on this product's page.

Pros: - Price, of course.
- When it works, it works well.
Cons: - Only works with certain devices(see details below).
Other Thoughts: I tried this on several devices:
- DELL D420 laptop
- Gigabeat S MP3 Players
- Zune 30 MP3 Player
On the laptop, it worked very well - the 8GB CF card was visible in the BIOS, and I was able to build out Ubuntu on the card and it worked well. I also tried XP, but it was slow due to the nature of flash drives with that OS.
I had no luck getting it to work with a Gigabeat S or Zune, however. I have to assume that the firmware for those devices just cannot handle a CF replacement.
Bottomline: Works great (when it works). YMMV, depending on the devices you try it on.

Pros: This works great to replace the dead hard drive in my 5G iPod with a compact flash card. Should handle any size card you have. My iPod is only 8gb now, but now you can't feel it spin, it responds quicker, and has better battery life.
Cons: Not so much of a con in my case, but this comes with the standard hard drive zif connector, which isn't what the iPod uses. I just used the cable that was already in my iPod, so it doesn't matter.
Other Thoughts: The only trouble I had installing it was the same as another reviewer, where I put it in upside-down. The card faces into the iPod.
Bottomline: Worth every penny for me. It fixed an otherwise useless iPod.
