Pros: - nice, sturdy built lamp- the leds are visible even in daylight- easy to mount, although it takes some time to do it properly- good enough length of cables to install the brake light sensor on the rear brake (should probably be enough to install it in the front too, but didn't try that)- warning sound is louder than a standard bicycle bell- requires only two AA batteries installed in the lamp, the rest is powered from these
Cons: - I took away a point in build quality, because the controller's quality doesn't match that of the lamp's. In my view it should be smaller and waterproofed at least to a degree that one wouldn't have to fear rain (as is the case with the lamp unit). To my liking it should also be black, or at least no so flashy red, but that's a question of taste. - in order to put batteries in or out of the lamp one needs to remove not only the transparent cover, but also the electronic parts. This is not a big deal, but a little inconvenience. - can't completely switch the lamp off - the stop light will always work, but perhaps for someone that would be a pro.- the difference between the normal tail light and tail+stop light is visible, but could be stronger. Perhaps 3leds for each would solve the issue - now it's 1led for tail and 2leds for stop.
Other Thoughts: I guess if You disregard the size and looks of the control unit, this is an excellent thing for anyone who wants on their bike something more than just a flashing red light in the back
Bottomline: No way You will get anything close to this in shops, and if You do, certainly not in this budget. I think it's useful, and if it's reliable too, it's a must have for anyone who does a lot of cycling on streets at late hours.
