Ownership verified by DX Great price -- perhaps the best? -- for a rear cam
Posted by SAYnoTOpoo on 10/9/2009
Involvement: Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership: more than 1 month

Price: starstarstarstarstar
Ease of Use: starstarstarstarstar
Build Quality: starstarstarstar
Usefulness: starstarstarstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstarstarstar

Pros: - works fine
- came with a drill bit; nice added touch
- really is wide angle, which is absolutely necessary for a rear-view cam

Cons: - does sometimes get moisture inside lens which fogs up certain parts of the image (always disappears though)
- resolution could be about 50% better, to be able to see the hitch and ball more sharply. NB: perhaps this is a limitation of my current monitor, a generic 4” LCD colour monitor, about 5 yrs old

Other Thoughts:

Bottomline: I frequently tow a trailer; probably 8 times per month. After years of having to get out 2 to 5 times to align the hitch, I found this camera at what I think is a fantastic price. Local (Canadian) car audio dealers want $200 for similar units. I did the installation myself in my Mercedes 2001 ML320. It was sort of long – perhaps 4 hours -- but really, wasn't that hard in the end.
