Pros: Good looking R2 torch with choice of batteries. I like the simple two modes. Not a bad thrower with reasonable spill. This is now one of my favourite torches. No battery issues with either protected 16340s or 18650s.
Cons: Very difficult to modify.Finish is not very durable, I scratched mine getting it apart but it has aquired more scratches now with being in my pocket with coins and keys.
Other Thoughts: Because the two modes are controlled by a resistor in the tail switch the levels are much closer together if you use 3 16340 cells rather than one 18650.
Bottomline: A little expensive but it well worth the money. As stated by another reviewer, this is one of the best looking torches on DX. Buy one!
Pros: Fit and finish is really good. O-rings, lubed threads, flawless anodisation. Aeshetically, really good - looks more expensive than what it is with the tactical bezel. Perfect size - just big enough to fit your palm (well, my palm anyway) Good output with strong hotspot and ok spill. Assault bezel nice and sharp. Would be painful with a good swing of the arm. No five modes to go through. Textured reflector, no nasty rings.I Driver doesn't break if you use reverse polarity, but it doesn't work either.
Cons: Came with no instructions as to battery polarity (it turns out it's positive towards the head) Difference between high and low is slight. More like high and medium-high. Extremely slight greeny tint characteristic of R2's.
Other Thoughts: Sort of tricky to unscrew the stainless bezel, and afaik impossible to access the driver and pill. I don't plan on modding it however so that's alright. People have said something about cr123a's getting hot while using this - I don't experience that problem.
Bottomline: -Nice and bright, throw-oriented -Pretty cheap for an R2 -One of the best looking flashies imo -Worth the $30 definitely -Recommended buy.
Pros: Light is a brilliant white with good throw and acceptable spill. Construction seems to be very solid, and the light is able to use both rechargeable/lithium 123A batteries and 18650 rechargeables.
Cons: The light does not come with instructions, and there's nothing to indicate battery polarity nor how to access the two modes. The light turns on bright with the first push of the button (click) and must be pushed again (another click) for low. There is no memory.
Other Thoughts: The light appears to be designed for throw, which it does fairly well, but cycling between high and low is a royal pain. The light also is a size not easily accommodated by holster wear and EDC seekers might want to confine their search to cylindrical lights with various modes.
Bottomline: The construction and the brightness of this light makes it a good drawer or tactical light, but its main failing is its high/low modes. A Solarforce would probably be a better choice.
