Ownership verified by DX Works Great

Involvement: Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership: more than 1 month

Price: starstarstarstarstar
Ease of Use: starstarstarstarstar
Build Quality: starstarstarstar
Usefulness: starstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstarstar

Pros: - The beam is really visible in the dark
- AAA batteries (not as expensive as the smaller batteries and you can also buy rechargeble AAA batteries)
- The spot where the beam hits is visible from really far away, even during daytime.
- Ten times as powerful to what you can buy in my own country.
- Can pop black baloons or baloons with a black spot painted onto it :)

Cons: - Eats batteries quite quickly, though i'm using rechargeble ones which don't last aslong as nonrechargeble ones.
- The beam is not completly parallel, it's slightly divergent. This means that the beam gets thicker and thicker the futher away it is from the pointer itself. This causes the beam to lose it's intensity after a kilometer or two. Though if the beam would be completly parallel you wouldn't be able to see it from a greater distance since it would be too small.
- Flickers sometimes, probably beacuse of oxidization. Solved by just moving the batteries a bit in order for them to get in contact with the metall again.

Other Thoughts:

Bottomline: This laser is really priceworthy. If your looking for a laser that's not too expensive but still quite powerful, this is what you'r looking for.

Ownership verified by DX Good for Star gazing
Posted by CityLights on 7/14/2008
Involvement: Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month

Price: starstar
Ease of Use: starstarstarstar
Build Quality: starstarstar
Usefulness: starstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstar

Pros: Style,
Solid feel to the build
Black Rubberized finish is a wonderful plus
Good on batteries
In the warm state the divergence is fairly decent!

Cons: The Lens and Diode internals are glued in. It can not be easily taken apart for modding or re-alignment. Internally, the KTP crystal's diagonal axis to the IR diode seems to be off alignment. This Mis alignment robs the full potential of this pointer and causes mode hoping and stay light around the beams end dot.

Other Thoughts: After one day of use it started to Mode Hop. Beam is bright for a split second, then in under a second, it steps down in the brightness 3 or 4 steps. When it Mode hops, the Beam is round for the split moment at the 'turn on' stage, then oval, then a slight line extends out of the dot. Then, after the Laser warms up a bit, some of the brightness returns and the beam dot gets round again.

Bottomline: This laser might be worth the price if you are are into star gazing. It has a good visible Beam outdoors at night. If you like a clean end point get the 5mw NewWish pointer instead.

Ownership verified by DX Great deal!!

Price: starstarstarstarstar
Ease of Use: starstarstarstarstar
Build Quality: starstarstarstarstar
Usefulness: starstarstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstarstarstar

Pros: This is just great!!
-Unbeatable price
-Great light
-Smoked cardboard within 5 sec
-Light matches in 3 sec
-Visible beam during daylight
-Heavy, feels like alright quality

Cons: Not much..
-On/off button a little wobbly, but not that much
-Not that usefull, but who cares, IT FUN AND COOL!!!

Other Thoughts:

Bottomline: This is MUST if you would like a cheap, but powerfull laser pointer to play with. It fits perfect in your hands, and have just the right weight. Beam visible in daylight, haven't tried it in the dark yet. If you're thinking about buying this one, stop thinking and buy!!! Cant beat that price any other place!!

Ownership verified by DX Pretty awesome

Price: starstarstarstarstar
Ease of Use: starstarstarstarstar
Build Quality: starstarstarstarstar
Usefulness: starstarstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstarstarstar

Pros: Very bright, everyone loves it, dot shows up clearly and brightly even when it's very sunny outside, no beam in bright daylight however. good build, great fun and burns.

Cons: nothing, it dosnt eat batteries as much as i had thought it did, im still on the original pair almost 2 weeks later, but little burning power left.

Other Thoughts: Ok so i finally accomplished lighting a match with this laser - but i couldn't do it without the help of a magnifying glass and the match at about 5 inches away, 4 seconds later it lit with good batteries. btw - this laser does not blind animals. maybe over a long period of time, it may damage them, but animals eyes are stronger then humans and not as susseptible to lasers as humans. so dont worry about playing with your cat or dog with lasers, unless you are very cloose to the animal, < 2 feet, you might burn the dark part of their eyes.

Bottomline: it's great - 54 dollars well spent.
