As discussed at our forums, this laser does not come with an IR filter. So for safety you should wear protective glasses when using the pointer.
Burning demo of Thin Plastic follows. The laser can also burn thin plastic at a distance (since energy is focused as they are lasers), provided that you have steady hands or something to keep the laser dot on one spot for a split second (you can use things like tripods). I will take some "remote burning" pictures and upload them shortly.
Pros: -The beam is really visible at night -it is really bright-the battery do last a long time, i have been playing with my for almost a month, and still haven't changed the batteryMost important is that it uses 1 x AAA battery, which is cheap and can get it everywhere.
Cons: -do not expect that this can burn anything unless you mod it (which i did not).
Other Thoughts: YOU must becareful with it, because i get dizzy after playing with it inside the house for a while. Beam can be easily reflected into your eyes by mirror or anything shiny.
Bottomline: -Loved it-Looks COOl-buy the stronger one if you really want to burn thing.
Pros: fantastic.this is even brighter than the 50mw that saved me and my dog from a badger attack.less than an hour before i had been pointing out stars with it.then walking home in the dark i startled a badger that turned and and was about to attack and it stopped it in its tracks.this would have stopped it quicker.
Cons: none that i can think of unless being too bright counts as a con? as i live quite close to a large navel air station i have to be careful that passing helicopters don't get in the way.
Other Thoughts: The beam can very easily be seen at night more so than the 50mw , and its very visible. I pointed it 2 miles away, and i could still see the beam dot on a island.it woke a lot more seagulls than the 50mw (mullion island if you want to find it with Google earth and measure it for your self.)quick delivery well worth the pennies
Bottomline: you wont be happy till you buy this so what are you waiting for? i now own this, the 50mw and the 200mw red and all my friends want one.
Pros: comes with bateriesThe beam is very bright,and it is not recomended to look directly to it.pops a baloon(very slow thought)burns black thin plastic stuff.point to 5 km approximetly..
Cons: the laser i got was a fake and it has a lower output than the real one but still strong and burn stuff..the bateries it comes with are weak.doesnt burn matches!pops a baloon realy slow and only with a black spot on it.
Other Thoughts: if i whould have gotten a real 100mW im guessing it whould be stronger than my own.
Bottomline: this laser is fantastic but if u are going to buy this..be sure you are willing to take the risk by getting a lower output one!im still trying to get a real one from dx..im hoping they will agree to send it to me.but if u buy this,and get a real one,you wont be dissapointed!(my friend got a real one and its great!)
Pros: Incredible green beam. It simply can touch the clouds. It seems to reach the infinite at night.Comes with batts and manual.Well packed, nice enclosure.
Cons: A strong laser like this should come with a sefety key. I believe a tragedy may occur if this laser accidentally hit you eyes.This is not to be used by kids or irresponsible people.
Other Thoughts: When in crowded place/party, this kind of "toy" will bring a lot of attention to you. Fact.
Bottomline: Definitely a great product. Impossible to not impress your friends with it........
