Ownership verified by DX Works functionally but can still use some work

Pros: Switching to radio while playing iPod music will pause the music in current position.
Radio has 4 presets that are saved even after plugging out remote.
Compatible with iPod Touch 2ndGen.

Cons: Starts playing automatically when plugged in. (I want to listen when I want to)
Play volume defaults to medium level regardless of previous plug in. (depending on person, "medium" might be too loud/soft)
Any button press will wake up the iPod screen. (Wastes power and may shorten backlight life if used too much)
When switching from presets to normal tuning, it goes back to the position normal tuning was at instead of the preset. (inconvenient when I'm trying to tune to a different station faster instead of crawling through manual tune)
Auto scan does not work well at all; stops at every little position if it detects the smallest signal regardless of how bad it is.

Other Thoughts: Manual says to switch to music mode before unplugging remote. I do not know what would happen if you unplug in radio mode nor am I going to try it.
Uses LED backlight not the Indiglo-style backlight, so backlight is so-so.
Buttons require quite a bit of push to activate.
When iTouch isn't locked, pushing a play/skip button will open music app.
Holding down play will put display to sleep mode (but will still wake up if you push another button).

Bottomline: One of the reasons I wanted this remote was to be able to listen to radio without having to change headset/unit so in this regard the remote was fine. However another reason I wanted a remote was so I don't have to wake up the screen so the tendency for this remote to wake up my iPod with every button press almost kills it for me. The official iPod headphone remote works better for me in this regard (does everything without waking the screen nor open music app).

Ownership verified by DX Works with iPhone 3g

Price: starstarstarstarstar
Ease of Use: starstarstarstarstar
Build Quality: starstarstarstarstar
Usefulness: starstarstarstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstarstarstar

Pros: adds remote control function and FM radio to Iphone 3g - even though it says "accessory is not made to work with iPhone"
shows IPod or radio stations on screen with blue backlight
small size
uses power from ipod, no need for batteries
easy switch between radio or ipod

Cons: small buttons, can accidently press play/pause button when pressing other buttons
uses power from ipod - if battery life on ipod is not that great
wire is long if planning of putting both ipod and controller in same pocket
no belt clip

Other Thoughts: works great with Iphone 3g, small size, simple to use
when switching to radio it will pause music, and if switch back it will start playing

Bottomline: works great, good for iphone or touch since they do not display radio stations
build quality is not bad - seems it will last for a while

Pros: - Adds both the FM Radio & Remote Control function to your iPod.
- FM quality quite good, clear reception.
- Doesn't "hang" your iPod like some other controllers sold on DX as reviewed by others.
- Simple switch to chose between FM or normal MP3 playback.
- Blue backlight function very useful! Lights up for about 3-4 seconds everytime you press something on the controller, then turns off.

Cons: - Buttons are a little difficult to press, but i guess it takes a bit of getting used to.
- Built quality isin't exactly the best, quite thin material. But at this price, what else could you ask for?
- Turns on your iPod the moment you connect it. The controller doesn't need any batteries and draws power from your iPod. So if you plan on storing your iPod & controller for awhile, be sure to disconnect them, else the battery might be drained fully after sometime.

Other Thoughts: i like the switch button for choosing FM & MP3 playback, so simple and doesn't cause any problems for the iPod.
When you switch from MP3 to FM, the iPod would pause the MP3 playback until you chose to change back to MP3 and it continues from where you stopped.

Bottomline: Nice little gadget for your iPod. Too bad it doesn't come with a clip on the controller. But still, get it!
