Pros: Of course, the best part of this thing is its shape. Penguin! As I am a fan of Ubuntu Linux I had to buy it, just for having. It works enough good and it is built normally.
Cons: Sound is not very good, but loud. There are some noise when it works close to notebook or computer. Probably it is due to magnetic pickup. Of course it plays only one channel.
Other Thoughts: It would be cool to have the toy dancing or jumping during playing!
Bottomline: The good present for linux lovers, penguin fans or kids. I think you should not buy this item if you like clear sound.
Pros: Obviously, you buy this because of its shape. But the speakers doesn't sound half bad either. Build quality is reasonably good, too. I don't see any parts coming off soon.
Cons: The on-off switch is placed in a very tight spot between the left wing and left foot. I have some difficulty operating it. When plugged into the USB, the speakers gives some to al lot of extra white noise.
Other Thoughts: Some extra leds, blinking to the music, would have been cool.
Bottomline: Nice to have, nice to give. And at this price, what penguin-lover wouldn't?
Pros: - Great sound for the size - Portable - Very cute - Decent paint job
Cons: - Slight scratch underneath - Battery life? - Non replaceable battery(not easily, anyway)
Bottomline: Very pleasantly surprised at sound quaility. Only expecting it to be a toy. I mean, don't expect THX, but it's good enough to fill a quiet room. Definitely a great buy. Slightly higher price preventing me from buying more. If it were $5 I would buy an army and make them March. :o) I've only had it for a few hours so unsure of battery life. May report in forum later.
Pros: Cute, inexpensive, rich sound, crisp and powerful with no discernible distortion at louder volumes,
Cons: For the price, I can't think of anything I don't like about this product. It would be nice if it had its own volume control, but I wouldn't pass on this product for that reason alone.
Bottomline: Purchased this for a friend who loves penguins. Didn't expect much (especially for the price), but was amazed at the sound this dapper little guy produces. You can get bigger speakers, and cheaper speakers - but this guy is dressed to the nines and can go anywhere.
