Pros: -Very tiny, you can take it with you everywhere.-Uses common 12V DC in ( + o) - ) at 500ma, some people states you can use it at 6v.-Excellent picture quality.Come in a nice packaging, I store it inside.-Screen is protected by a plastic film, no scratches.-Uses classic composite entries, mono sound red wire is intended for 12V input.-Very good built quality, component used in looks very seriously chosen for a good durability.
Cons: -A bit expensive for such a small screen.
Other Thoughts: -As stated before, if you search for the 12V dc plug, it's located on the jack to composite cable (red).-After this everything will work fine.
Bottomline: -This is an excellent DIY part, usefull for many uses, and also for casual video system testing.
Pros: It has a very crisp imageIt's very brightIs scales the input image down to fit the screenHas left/right switchBuilt in speakerAdjustable brightness and contrastFeels like it should survive a drop or two
Cons: It gets very hotOnly accepts 12 voltsThe built-in speaker is not the bestOnly takes one sound channel
Other Thoughts: Great price, and great built quality for the price. The resolution is about 256x240.Perfect for NES! :)
Bottomline: It should be hackable to work at under 12 volts, as it has a quite huge transformer inside. If you need a small screen, buy this!
Pros: This little unit has a very sharp image. There is no edge bleed usually associated with small, inexpensive screens. It also has a wide adjustment range for both brightness and contrast. Further, even at full volume there is very little distortion. Plus its loud enough to hear clearly. Also, the screen displays in "overscan" mode, meaning that the entire possible video image is displayed, rather than cutting off the top or bottom as most TV's usually do. :)
Cons: The only real con for me is the combination audio, video, and D/C power connection which pokes out the side. To keep the lines of the device cleaner, it should protrude from the back. Especially considering that its intended use would place it on a car dash. Also, there is no chroma adjust, although tweaking the brightness and contrast do a fair job of reproducing accurate color.
Other Thoughts: I took off one star more for design than actual poor build quality, but beyond that, the unit is simple and to the point. It does exactly what it is designed to do, and does it well.Oh, and the L/R switch even provides the option to flip the video along the vertical axis. This would make it especially useful as a rear view camera monitor.
Bottomline: Cost-wise, DX has everyone else beat. (Google the model number and you'll see what I mean.)At such a great price (and free shipping!) it's perfect for mod projects as well as its intended use.
