Pros: The idea is great. my wife used to switch the light on all the time and it disturbed me all the time, now she can read and let me sleep, the light is really strong, the glass is very clear
Cons: the dimer is not the best build quality, but after all, it is ok. another thing maybe, it is not the easiest to insert the batteries... but again... you do it once a month so you should not be worried about that.
Other Thoughts: not much to say, it came on time, worked ok.
Bottomline: if you need it!? BUY IT, great value for this cheap product.
Pros: The does not disturb my wife when I am reading in bed at night and the lights are off.It is bright enough and as evenly lit as most other book lights, but it doesn't spill the light outside the reading area.I find it easier to use than other book lights.
Cons: The screen is filled with scratches (as mentioned lots of times before)The adjustable brightness is cheap and you can turn for a while with no change and then there are a few clicks where it goes from dim to maybe 80% and then many more clicks to get to 100%.Not large enough for many books... need to slide it down as you read.
Other Thoughts: I have found that it works quite well actually laying on the opposite page (as if you were reading that, and the spill of light is good enough to light up the opposite page (when turned up). That way you don't have to read through the scratched plastic.
Bottomline: Decent for the price, but the scratches should really be fixed.
Pros: Probably does what its supposed to if you are getting a product in mint condition.
Cons: Due to all the complaints I'v read on this product i guessed that DX had improved this product. It seems like all the faults and quality issues still lives in best well-being. First of all my product had the same scratches as mentioned my lots of other people here. Also, after inserting the batteries and testing the product it took about 2 minutes before i heard a *bzzzz* sound and one of the LED's burned out. Now it only works with 2 LED's, making it kinda useless as only half the device is illuminated. In total this was probaly the most poorly experience I'v had related to products from DX.
Other Thoughts: If quality can't be improved DX should remove this product from its product line, it does not meet the quality that should be expected.
Bottomline: Not much, see the rest of my review.
Pros: Great idea.Compact.Fairly bright.
Cons: #1 complaint - scratched 'glass.' There appear to be 2 pieces of plexiglass glued together, and there is a strong pattern over the entire clear part when the light is turned on. The brigher the light, the brigher the scratches. It's very hard on the eyes when trying to read.It is too small for most books.Mine didn't work at first. I had to take it apart and bend some of the battery terminals.
Other Thoughts:
Bottomline: It's a really neat idea, but the lens is just awful. Since most book pages are printed on both sides of a page, the letters on the back side bleed through if you try to use it under the page you are reading. If you lay this on top of the page you are trying to read, the scratches make the text barely legible. Plus, the device is quite small so it isn't good for anything bigger than a compact paperback book.A clip-on light or light that clamps onto your headboard would have to be better than this.
