Pros: Q5 - bright
Programmable 3 Mode?
Square, anodized threads (very smooth)
Tough anodization
Works with 1.2v/1.5v AAs
Tailstands
Cons: 6-modes?
Must shut off for 10+ secs to avoid advancing to next mode
Must shut off for 1+ secs to advance mode
Better bargains available now
Gets hot on max
Would be nice:
Extension tube for 2AA
Flood-to-spot
Candle mode
Bottomline: This is the 3rd or 4th time I've submitted a review of this torch over the past 10 months. Initially, the review was great, but asleep-at-the-wheel DX staff missed out on those reviews. Since much better choices have become available on DX, this somewhat aggravating torch has assumed permanent duty attached to a ball cap as a headlight. The more powerful version of this torch (sku #28544) is only $13 and is also more usable, so $11 would be a fair price for this one. The GITDs on #28544 are more pliable and make it a bit easier to click. 5 modes may be a con for some, but not as much so as the retarded memory on this torch. It has memory, but only if you leave the torch off for a minimum of 10 seconds. Otherwise, you have to cycle through the modes. For me this is almost like no memory. Thus, with modes set to hi-hi-hi with an AA, this makes a suitable headlight. Even cycling through modes is a pain, requiring a full second of "off" to advance. You can cycle through all 5 modes on the 28544 and other torches in about the same time. Build quality is super, and the programmable driver would be great too, if it worked properly. Even so, the price is still too high. Sku #26122 is the mechanical twin to #28544, but stainless. It's heavy, but built like a tank and also quite reasonable. Warning, I ordered #28546 which appears to be exactly the same as #28544, but no such luck. Even after RMA for a DOA torch, I ended up with a weak one that won't work on AAs. Avoid #28546. Also, it seems that these are shipping as 6-mode again, making them even less attractive :-(

Pros: Good output on high, long run time on low (20 hours), sturdy build.
Cons: Way too expensive for this 6 mode light. Much better deal is the
sku 28546 5 mode light which is almost $6 cheaper. The extra mode really adds nothing, just one more half click to cycle through to the mode that you want.
Other Thoughts: I had been hoping to get the programmable 3 mode light that most people seem to be getting, but I ordered this 19/11/2009 and got the nonprogrammable 6 mode. The 3 mode programmable would have been a good deal. I actually ended up getting the 3 mode programmamble somewhere else, and it is a much more practical light -- I've just set it on lo/med/hi. I don't need to see the strobe and SOS modes all the time, but they are available if I need them.
Bottomline: If you get the 3 mode programmable, you're getting a good deal. If you get stuck with the 6 mode non programmable, you'd be better off with sku 28546.

Pros: cool 3 mode memory light.
(at least as long as they were shipped)
Cons: maybe a little bit too complicated to program this light...
programming the lowest output ia almost impossible, because light switches/traverses from low to high output much too fast...
Other Thoughts: For everyone to find this faster, I add my measurement infos to this review:
I used 3 modes for my current measurements:
high (maximum output)
mid (somewhere above low)
low (the lowest setting I was able to program)
I used 3 types of batteries (Alkaline, Ni-Mh, Li-Io):
(Battery-Voltages always measured at the open circuit)
Alkaline: fresh camelion cell at 1,63V
Ni-Mh: Camelion 2500mAh at 1,39V (almost full)
Li-Io: Trustfire Protected at 3,8V
Now to the measurements:
_______Li-Io_________Ni-Mh_________Alkaline
high___740mA________1110mA_________1080mA
mid_____40mA_________130mA__________120mA
low_____10mA__________40mA___________40mA
Bottomline: no longer 3 mode memory...
too bad....

Pros: Styling - my wife envied it when she saw it, this is a really well styled little torch
Anodizing - very well coated and even colour, very tasteful colour too
Build quality - it's really not far off some of the Surefire, Fenix & Inova lights I have with well cut threads & double O rings
Design & Function - first click is a fast strobe at 200lmn which at night will attract attention and disorient an attacker, press halfway down and it's steady 200lmn mode, half press again and it's low mode which is useful for up close or indoors, it remembers the last setting you used. Great belt clip and will stand up on end to light a room hands free, clip direction allows top pocket hands free walking illumination
Beam quality - perfect round beam and darn bright, good balance of flood and throw - tending mostly towards flood
Cons: cant think of any
Ok I'll be real picky - charge an extra few dollars and fit a glass lens
Other Thoughts: Pretty sure it has an aluminium reflector with a MOP finish
Mode operation is very easy to use
Great price for what it is
Bottomline: If you want a slightly better built, better looking and more well thought out mini blaster than the usual made in China fare this is a great choice
