Pros: Cheap. Reads SDHC & standard SD cards, with MS/TF/M2 cards (I don't have any to test)One USB port (Upside DOWN so things need plugged in in reverse)
Cons: USB Port was faulty, one of the pins was unsoldered, I re-soldered it and now it is ok.One USB port (Upside DOWN so things need plugged in in reverse)
Other Thoughts: Fits on my Gigabyte MB fine no conversion needed.Box shows XD and CF cards but these are NOT on the panel, it should be updated
Bottomline: Good at the price, but build quality/QA is lacking
Pros: Can take SDHC. Cheap. Standard USB mobo connector. Has little light to show you that you put a card in.You can have a card in a slot and a USB device on the USB slot working at the same time.
Cons: The USB slot came defective. I had to fix it and now it is working fine. They tag TF and M2 wrong. Meaning that the one that is tagged M2 works with my microsd. No compact flash reader. The USB slot and the MS slot are upside down. Can only show the content of one card at a time which is the first one you plug in.
Other Thoughts: I tried it with 8Gb micro SD and 8Gb MS and works fine on Windows 7 RC 64bit.
Bottomline: You get what you pay for. It works after minor adjustment. Be sure to check the orientation if the card readers before putting a card in.
Pros: I have a cheap PC case with the USB ports on the side, which makes connecting and removing a USB drive awkward. I fit these ports to the front of the case but it looked ugly and because I filed down the soldering the performance was temperamental. This card reader is a much neater solution and the USB port does perform at USB 2.0 speeds.Item actually works, which can be a concern in this price range.
Cons: Red LEDs may clash with the other LEDs on your PC.A removable drive permanently appears in My Computer (for Windows users). This can be hidden, DX may not like me posting a web address so do a search on hiding a drive letter. You will have to type the drive letter in the address bar to access any cards though.
Other Thoughts: I changed the drive letter to B so it was out of the way.
Bottomline: The price makes up for any shortcomings.
Pros: Very useful to have a card reader and a usb port on the front of my computer. I believe the usb port is a direct line to the motherboard, so it will work regardless of the state of the card reader.
Cons: I wish the card readers were spring-loaded, but it's not a big deal. It shows up in windows explorer whether you have a card in it or not; this is kind of annoying because at first you will confuse which is which.
Other Thoughts:
Bottomline: It's a cheap way to add a media card reader and a front usb port to your desktop. Considering that every laptop has a memory card slot, you might as well get one on your desktop.
