Pros: Nice looking clone of Hakko 900M series soldering stations. Exchangeable soldering iron tips, replaceable soldering pen. Digital temperature meter. Replaceable heating element (probably compatible with Hakko spare parts as well).Good packaging.
Cons: As it was already mentioned, the soldering pen cable is short and not flexible enough. I replaced it with one taken from an old Weller station. That one is still good regardless it's age :o)Since I had really bad experience with generic electronic devices, I disassembled the station body before firing it. The cable connecting the heating element to the main board was squeezed between the power transformer and the power regulator's heat sink, making short cut connection. Pretty sure it would burn up the system if not fixed. The wires isolation was damaged and required some shrinking tubing there. There is no ability to adjust the station thermometer without disassembling the main board. There are several trim pots on the board, but there is no one behind the "calibration" hole on front panel. It's also unclear what is the internal trim-pots functionality. The station controller does not always come up when the mains switch turned on. Sometimes it shows tree horizontal lines instead of numbers on temperature display and the heating element went to the maximum power. It took me few on-off cycles until controller started to work properly and react to the temperature regulator position. Hope it will not happen too much in the future.
Other Thoughts: The soldering element is not 60W as it mentioned in the item description. The internal transformer rated 24V 1.3A, so it's probably 30W MAX.
Bottomline: Good exterior, but problematic engineering and assembly. The main board assembly is OK, but seems that these devices are not passing QA at the end of production. At least mine did not - see the "cons" section.
Pros: Good device for this money.Fast heating.Nice small tip, but for regular work I need something bigger.
Cons: Temperature measuring is not correct. If i compare Veller and this, is huge difference. This device measuring temperature inside heater, not from tip. It's means if you soldering something big, what need lot of energy, station shows like temp is ok, but real tip temperature can be 100c lower than temperature on display. No potential balancing outlet.Soldering iron cable is exreamly short(60cm) and solid. I change it(120cm soft) and now is much better. Same problem with power cable
Other Thoughts:
Bottomline: Nice tool for secondary use.Something between regular iron and proffesional soldering station.
Pros: Best value for money I've seen so far. The red led display goes from 200 to 480. With the knob one can adjust the temperature. After setting desired temperature with the knob temperature rapidly rises to that. When desired temperature is reached led over the handle connector starts to blink.Has little hole with calibration screw in it on the front panel. The other side has power switch and other has fuse holder (T2A 250V fuse). Has english manual.
Cons: After opening the package the smell of cheap plastic is very very bad. After a week or so some of the smell starts to fade away
Other Thoughts: Teh plug fits nicely to grounded wall socket with sku.13525. Similar unit with less power, around here costs 64 € (82 US$) MORE than this one, NOT including the shipping. I would like to order extra tips for this from DX. Claims to be "ESD safe".
Bottomline: Soldering iron for the right money.
Pros: Though only 220V can be usedThe transformer can be bought with Dealextream for 12 dollars. ( KSU14322 110V~220V Bidirectional AC Power Transformer Adapter (80-Watt Max).
Cons: Though only 220V can be usedThe transformer can be bought with Dealextream for 12 dollars.
Other Thoughts: Though only 220V can be usedThe transformer can be bought with Dealextream for 12 dollars.
Bottomline: Though only 220V can be usedThe transformer can be bought with Dealextream for 12 dollars.
