Pros: - definitely price is veeery good...- came really sharp...- nice paperbox packaging...- shipped very fast - this was the fastest dealextreme order till now...- strong enough to cut vegetables...
Cons: - it is fake of SUBCOM FOLDER knive from BOKER company...- stolen design from chad los banos (the guy who designed original one)...- feels differently than that from boker - this one is weaker and way lighter...
Other Thoughts: - i have also boker subcom folder, this is not really comparable to original...
Bottomline: - good knive for that price... not so good for daily using... if you want to look dangerous and you do not have enough money for a real subcom folder - this is the solution...
Pros: This knife is about 95% as good as the real thing, which is amazing for the price. It takes a little push to get it to lock, but once it does it's nice and tight. The finish is flawless. All the screws are tight. It is razor sharp out of the package. I generally believe you get what you pay for, but this is an exception. A knife of this quality is easily worth 25-40$...you get the idea.
Cons: Not that it matters, but the logo is misspelled. It says "CLB Desion". It also says Talwan instead of Taiwan. The clip is a little stiff.
Other Thoughts:
Bottomline: If you don't have any qualms about buying a copy, buy it. In fact, buy a dozen of them and give them out as gifts. I only bought one, since I didn't know what to expect. Now that I've seen it I'm going to order a few more. I think I'll buy a real one too, just to silence the guilty voice in my head.
Pros: Knife is based on Boker's Subcom knife. Build quality is pretty good considering the price is less than $5. I ordered two of these knives and both blades were razor sharp and perfect with zero imperfections. The knives have good jimping on both the handles and blade spine. Knives are packaged in a very small and plain cardboard box. Knife is incredibly lightweight and comfortable to hold.
Cons: Both of my knives had minor framelock problems. When the blade is deployed, the framelock locks in place only partly. Sometimes, the framelock won't even lock at all and will not fit against the knife. I'm sure sanding down the edge of the framelock will allow a better fit. The thumbstud on one of the knives fell off but can easily be fixed with a bit of superglue.
Other Thoughts: I ordered two of these knives and both were covered with some kind of brown dusty, chalky substance. I disassembled one of the knives to clean it but had a hard time re-assembling it afterwards. For some reason, the pivot screw would not fit securely as if it was now too short for the pivot. Evenutally, I had to use a dremel stone and manually countersink the pivot hole so the screw would fit more securely. The fit and finish is much better now. I also added some thread locker to the pivot screw and now it's very secure. This knife is a replica of a genuine Boker subcom knife but you will notice that there are some spelling mistakes on the blade.
Bottomline: This is an excellent knife if you just need something to open boxes, letters or do light utility cutting. The genuine Boker subcom makes a good "last resort" self-defence knife but I wouldn't recommend using DX's version for self defence as the framelock is very unpredictable.
Pros: The biggest thing this knife has going for it is the design it is copied from.- Good jimping all around.- Blade won't close on your finger when disengaging the frame lock because of the way the blade is designed.- Like a previous reviewer said, it's real G10 on one side.- Easy to take apart and reassemble with T7 and T8 torx screwdrivers.- Teflon washers in between the sides and the blade.
Cons: I needed to take the knife apart and file down the part of the blade which catches on the framelock since it was a tad too long. This made it such that the lock didn't engage fully. It's an easy fix.The other thing are the thumb studs. On my particular knife they're not really angled optimally for opening the knife. Plus they're just glued on there. I don't know how durable that part is, but it's easy enough to fix with epoxy if it falls off.The last thing is that the pocket clip is really tight. I have to use quite a bit of force to move it even just half a millimeter.
Other Thoughts: It's a very nice knife. I love mine. Just make sure you put some lube in the little indentation in the blade that's used for catching the little nub on the framelock. That will smooth out the action.
Bottomline: Buy it if you like the design.
