Most of these and other made in China green lasers do not have IR filters and thus can be hazardous to eyes without proper protective eye wear. By all means if you are unsure of what this means get the 5mW version ($18.59 shipped) for your safety.

Warning: this particular laser is capable of burning holes on and cutting thin plastic films so make sure you have protective eyewears (as mentioned above) and that you do not misuse this.

As discussed at our forums, this laser does not come with an IR filter. So for safety you should wear protective glasses when using the pointer.

Burning demo of Thin Plastic follows. The laser can also burn thin plastic at a distance (since energy is focused as they are lasers), provided that you have steady hands or something to keep the laser dot on one spot for a split second (you can use things like tripods). I will take some "remote burning" pictures and upload them shortly.

Pros: Very stable, powerful laser. Smokes black plastic in seconds. Burns through black plastic bag @ 4'. Very visible laser light even in day at far distances. Can feel the heat on skin in seconds. "eye splitting power!"

Cons: Doesn't FEEL like a true laser because it is in fact, not a "TRUE" laser. Notice how the $ might be slightly more for the lasers indicated as "TRUE" compared to those not even for the same power output (mW). In otherwords, the beam divergence sucks.

Other Thoughts: Perhaps the manufacture should design a model with a manual adjustable focus lens (as these ones are fixed via lock-tight on the lens' housing thread) to give the option to LASE further or burn more concentrated.

Bottomline: Don't be tempted to buy one with higher power unless indicated by DX to be a "TRUE" LASER!

Pros: What a Fantastic Laser Pen! I had read the other very few reviews on this 150mW Laser. All of them had great things to say, so I thought I'd give one a try. I have a 30mW True from DX which is great fun at night, but this 150mW is really amazing in its INTENSE brightness. In the snow and fog it ls simply amazing.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Besides the Price being outstanding, this is really a fantastic Laser Pointer. I hope DX will extend maybe a Special Order for 250mW and 300mW Lasers

Bottomline: Price Outstanding. Quality is Great. Beam if Total Brilliant. Super fun and amazing to see.

Pros: Very bright beam, Can light matches, pop balloons and melt/burn dark materials.A burning laser this cheap is hard to find.

Cons: Possible IR leakage, Use caution!

Other Thoughts: As stated getting a burning laser for this price is fantastic i have searched around and for the power you can expect to pay about 3 times as much. Also invest in some good NiMh rechargeables this thing chews up the power, lithiums work really well also.

Bottomline: If your looking for a burning laser get this. Overall 5 stars very happy with this purchase.

Sturdy, sollid, bright

Pros: Feels great, nice black finish with chrome accents, sturdy case.
The beam is VERY bright! Came home from work this night and it was waiting for me on the dinner table. So I put in the batteries (why is there a manual for that??) and started melting dessert... Pointed at my hand and it burned, it's a very small blister now.

Cons: Haven't found one yet. But wearing sunglasses seems like a good idea to me, it's realy realy bright.
Have to wait to find out the batterylife.

Other Thoughts: The pointer itself is black, why is the casing a creamy white one?

Bottomline: Great for burning and melting things and playing darth vader on your own pointing at the sky! But for presentations i ordered one with a less powerfull laser, don't want my class to have to wear sunglasses during presentations ;)
