Pros: Works well, and fairly fast. This new model has a new interface.

Cons: This new model is not compatible with Snake OS. See pictures of PCB here: http://www.schoolresources.net.au/NAS
Printer support not working at all with Epson 1410 and HP printer.
Some settings change back to the default automatically, which is a great nuisance. Can only attach one HDD. As no printer can be installed, the other USB port is useless.

Other Thoughts: I wish they would still sell the old version.

Bottomline: I only bought it because it could be upgraded to Snake OS. This new version can NO LONGER BE UPGRADED!

Ownership verified by DX SnakeOS. Small, effective but with limitations.

Pros: Low Power
Relatively easy to use
Custom Firmware
Internet BT client (Transmission)
Works with USB hubs
Enough options and settings to keep one happy.
Soundless.

Cons: Limited NTFS support (can't delete files over samba)
It feel sluggish. Like its really trying to do what you want. It'll do it, but it takes some effort.

Other Thoughts: If all your hard drives are NTFS wait for a SnakeOS kernel update or convert them back to Fat32. Unknown if the default OS had the same NTFS limitation. It takes some configuring to make it all work together.

Bottomline: Not bad.

Ownership verified by DX worth to buy for this low price

Pros: Small and easy to use. Original firmware is intuitive and light to use, but i have readed theese comments before i bought this item and i have flashed SnakeOS in the firs hour of use. Device is good and simple to use with alternate SnakeOS firmware. Linux BT client (transmission) works fine.

Cons: No possibility to connect (mount) another network hard drive or NAS via SAMBA or NFS protocols even with SnakeOS (v1.0.0). I hope it will be corect in future.
Torrent download is limited speed due CPU and RAM limitations.

Other Thoughts: Its not very powerfull mini ARM-CPU computer for not very particular user... But the price is the lowest for such capabilities device.

Bottomline: with SnakeOS it is good enought for people, who need low price and small power consumtion, quet device for home. I would recommend to buy it. But if you are more advanced user and you need more from your NAS (full linux distribution, more than 200Mhz CPU and RAM) you should buy another toy :)

Pros: With alternate Firmware (SnakeOS) its a really good device, you can even add usb-hubs (with 5V power adaptor) to add additional devices (i have 4x 4GB usb-sticks attached).
The original Firmware AFAIK doesnt allows usb-hubs and only 2 devices are supported, but since its based on linux the alternate firmware is not so restrictive.
Also downloads via torrent (havent used this, so possibly crashes are related to the torrent-client taking all ram/swap) and FTP/HTTP/Telnet/SSH-Server are available via SnakeOS.
For this price (40$) you cant get any NAS Device here in Europe thats linux based and supports usb-hubs, they all start at a price of about 130$ here (and they only support a build in harddrive and one external usb device)

Cons: Default Firmware crashes sometimes, AFAIK it doesnt even supports usb-hubs...

Other Thoughts: If you need to have your movies/mp3s/downloads ready 24h a day without running a 300-400W PC then you have to get this!

Bottomline: I would buy anotherone if this isnt already working so good with my old usb-sticks and usb-hub.
