Pros: I've bought this flashlight for my 1-st class nightvision project. I found this very useful for me. It emits enought light to light about 20 meters in front. But although I would like to buy some more powerful IR glashlights because that is not realy enough for me. But for those, who are using cameras to take some videos this is perfect.
Cons: none.
Other Thoughts: I thought it would be a little more powerful than it is ... But it's ok, doesn't disapointed me ...
Bottomline: Buy this if you need to take some videos at night, great gadget.
Pros: The light is infra-red.. I would think it's 808 nm..It lights more IR then my "see in the dark" cam does. It uses rechargeable AAA (triple a) batteries, Great. It's small, yet powerfulThe built Q is fine, but the battery holster is fragile.. The flash light is made of metal and got a nice, sturdy feel to it :)
Cons: The battery holster inside the light (for the 3 AAA) feels very cheap and fragile. :/I would have LOVED a IR flash light with CR123 batteries.. Wait, that's not a con?
Other Thoughts: I use it at night, well some times, It is just useful, That's what you need to know. Is you own a Night Vision Cam, you could use this..
Bottomline: got Night Cam? then get IR light for it!
Pros: Cheap source for lot of IR light for IR sensitive cameras.
Cons: Gets hot relatively quickly.Dry threads. Not really a major con since you'll need to relubricate threads after some time anyway.
Other Thoughts: The heat probably indicates it could really benefit from a regulation of some kind even though it'll probably affect output when using brand new batteries. I'll probably take it apart in the near future to see if I can implement some regulation, preferably a constant current limiter (ensures equal output over a greater voltage difference than a simple resistor although a resistor is better than nothing).
Bottomline: Cheap source of IR light. But you probably should be a bit careful about using rechargeable batteries if you're not investigating the regulation issue. Rechargeables can put out great current without dropping in voltage which could means too much current though the IR diodes.
Pros: I bought this light about 1 1/2-2 months ago and it's pretty cool. It works great with my Sony Handycam DCR-45 in the dark. It does get hot after a few minutes of continuous use, but a short cool-down helps. If you're looking for a quick, cheap way to amuse yourself and you have a video camera capable of 0 lux recording it's great. I tried it with my Blackberry Curve 8330, but I could not see any reflected light--only a purple glow when I pointed the flashlight directly at the lens of my phone. It's worth checking out.
Cons: I can't really think of any serious cons, although I wish ALL video camera sensors could detect enough light from it (eg my camera-phone).
Other Thoughts:
Bottomline: Get it if you're a technophile and want to sneak up on something or someone. At the very least, you can mess with household animals in the dark!
