Ownership verified by DX Good navigator

Build Quality: starstarstarstar
Usefulness: starstarstarstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstarstarstar

Pros: The optimum size of the screen. Compatible with most navigation software. Good image quality, brightness and viewing angle. Good built-in menu with additional programs. Excellent built-in toys. :) Lets you watch movies, but for normal viewing, they should be recorded in a format no longer 480*272 pixels.

Cons: The frame hangs at the connection with the bracket. Roars pointer. Quality of suckers is not very good. The battery life is enough for about 1 hour of active use. Very bright lamp state - blinds. Wires are rigid at low temperatures. In the package does not include an adapter for European power.

Other Thoughts: If the seal mounting frame, and darken the light of the lamp state, it is normal navigator. I have already decided these issues.

Bottomline: -

Ownership verified by DX Great value when compared to other retail GPS unit

Pros: The build quality of this GPS unit is quite nice externally as it's made of brushed aluminum. The screen is a nice, hearty 5 inches, and the package comes with everything you need to get started. Software wise it's cool because you can pretty much lead up whatever you want, and I have about three GPS programs loaded up right now, but iGO amigo is my current favorite. I don't use it for media playback or ebooks so I can't comment on that, but it can tie into your phone byway of bluetooth which is also cool. Satellite lock on is relatively quick and stays that way unless your in a tunnel, underground or inside. It's a solid unit overall.

Cons: If your a novice technically speaking this unit is not for you as the modifications are not for the faint of heart, and if you fiddle with the Windows CE core too much you can brick your unit. You'll also have to be creative in finding GPS software/maps but they are available if you look hard enough. Other than that the stock GUI for the unit is a bit outdated, and the battery life is horrible but I'll be swapping a new battery in soon. The CPU is a bit sluggish, and the manufacturer needs to release new units with more RAM stat. Internally, it's a rats nest and not very neat at all.

Other Thoughts: Put bigger batteries, and more RAM in to really make these worth our wild! But overall it's rock solid with a bit of tweaking, and perhaps the new ones can continue to support regular SD cards?

Bottomline: If you want a really cool GPS unit that's slim, sexy, and quite versatile to guide you to your destination this would be your best bet provided your technical aptitude is not lacking.

Ownership verified by DX Excellent choice, some hacking in order to excel

Pros: 1.Very sturdy construction.
2.Quite easy to hack according to the instructions in the forums
3.nice picture quality
4. Has AV in and audio out
Most GPS in the market are build more cheaply than this one. After some software and firmware hacking you can get a highly usable GPS/PDA unit

Cons: 1.could have a better battery but I dont complain
2.could have a little bit more ram (ram is dirt cheap), as the mean drawback that limits its possibilities is the 64MB of RAM.
but in reality all these are not drawbacks, just addition that would make the unit even better.

Bottomline: The pre-loaded software is so and so and has only US maps, so follow the forums and you 'll find quite thorough how to's.
After a little bit of software customization you can get a high quality unit that puts to shame most of the brandname GPS in the market at less than half the price.
comparing with my older USB GPS, it really is more receptive in dificult situations.
I can recommend this unit to anyone.

Ownership verified by DX Great price, big screen, can be challenging

Pros: Very cheap. Looks nice, seems to be mostly metal. Runs Windows CS5 and wide range of software can be installed on it.

Cons: Slow SPU, small memory. So far iGo Amigo and iGO 8.3 are a dissapointment. Too slow, can't even draw map in time, at least with TTS. Easy to get "out of memory" error. No chance of using Blutooth or MP3 player together with serious NAV software.

Other Thoughts: Needs real knowlegde and dedication to get it working with anything other than included iGO8 without TTS. I hope I can manage a workable software combination.

Bottomline: Everything said, if I get it working OK it's money well spent, because units with similar screens and software cost $400 and more. So this is great value. Most people would be happy with included software...
