Ownership verified by DX Bright and white

Involvement: General (knows how to use it) - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month

Price: starstarstarstar
Ease of Use: starstarstarstarstar
Build Quality: starstarstarstarstar
Usefulness: starstarstarstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstarstarstar

Pros: Wow it is bright and snow white! It is really good efficiency emitter. I am using one of these at 1 watt without heatsink with no problem at all. It is a little warm to touch but never gets hot. I'd definitely use heatsink if driving these at 3 watt though.

Cons: Can't think of any. But it will be nice if it's a bit cheaper :-)

Other Thoughts: I converted an old 1 watt led flashlight with this CREE. It made a huge difference. I am planning to use these for landscape spot/flood lights. I'll drive these at 3 watt to replace the 10 watt halogen light bulbs. Finding suitable reflectors/diffusers for flood light is challenging though.

Bottomline: Excellent emitter at reasonable price. I'll definitely buy more of these.

Overall Rating: starstarstarstarstar

Pros: Best price for a such good emitter. Buld perfectly. Not a resin dome, but made of glass, hard to scratch. 1W and 114lm best efficiency ever I see. 228Lm at 3W - nice burst mode. It's possible with it to take a photo at night. Good soldering to star. Packed and shipped really fast.

Cons: A Little hard to fit in some standart reflectors. But using dremmel it's easy.

Other Thoughts: To sold it you need 40W or 60W soldering iron, due it great heat thermal conductivity.

Bottomline: If you try to build yours own torch, but not modify something, it's great. If you are skilful just buy it. Great item.

Involvement: Novice (still getting used to it) - Ownership: more than 1 month

Price: starstarstarstarstar
Ease of Use: starstarstarstarstar
Build Quality: starstarstarstarstar
Usefulness: starstarstarstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstarstarstar

Pros: Very bright, cheapest I could find on the internet, Small, compact, light, ideal for building a custom torch / helmet light
Easily fitted due to "star" shape of board, The board helps soldering for those with "fat fingers" :)

Cons: DO NOT LOOK INTO THE LIGHT YOU'LL GO BLIND!

Other Thoughts: LOTS OF LUMEN FOR LITTLE MONEY! . . .
. . . . . . . . . . . .

Bottomline: Buy, build, ride!

Ownership verified by DX It's a real lamp not a traditional led

Usefulness: starstarstarstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstarstarstar

Pros: It's a great object.
I have purchased to build for my house new LED technology lamps instead of normal/fluorescent lighting.
The new Q5 chip is also cheaper if compared to its energy efficiency.
If consider that for a 1W led ~ 50Lum (by doubtful brand) are needed from 2 to 2.50 usd, how much buck to achieve its 230Lum ?

Cons: None it's a Cree...

Other Thoughts: The product is branded, therefore its performance and longevity are guaranteed (228Lum/1A and 70% of brightness after 50,000 hours).

Bottomline: With this new Q5 we approach increasingly to real possibility of replace the traditional sources of illumination.
Our Planet thanks good...
