Pros: Bright cree emitter on star, perfect for modding bike lights and flashlights etc. Allows you to build your own lights for cheap.
Cons: May require filing as mentioned in other reviews to fit into a lot of flash lights / torches. You need to be able to solder the star so some skill is required.
Other Thoughts: Could always be cheaper but for the price this is hard to beat on here.
Bottomline: Extreme deal. I would buy again if I needed to do more modding.Buy this and mod your own lights instead of paying ridiculous retail prices for commercially available options.I used this with a cheap flash light from here and the plastic holder to attach to bike handle bars. Gold.
Pros: ~ Brightness~ Price~ Aluminum PCB makes heat transfer easy
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Amazing deal people.I would put a "no more comments" here, but I'm obliged to give a 500 characters explanation of why I recommend these leds.Well, for one thing the price is amazing and with the "no-shipping-fees" policy of DX you can't go wrong.Secondly, I wanted a bright bicycle light for my night commutes, but had very few money and I didn't want the 10$ weakling lights that are all over. For less then 25$ I have built a two-led, super-bright bicycle light comparable to 100$ products. Finally it was easy to build due to the star PCB that makes pairing to a heatsink a breeze. Then I got those cheapo-but-ok lenses from here (SKU 1920) and woila. Bicycle light ready.
Bottomline: Highly recommended.
Pros: Ahhhh, it burns your eyes cause it's so bright!! Brightest 1 Amp, 3.4 V chips I've seen!! Paired with the other DX lens it is an amazingly tight & perfect beam. For a good price. Not hands down smoking deal, but for the quality, and with the free shipping ...is a pretty darn good deal. You would be hard pressed to get the same price at a low volume that's for sure.
Cons: None really. Would be nice if this same chip was on a small circular base. Many of the other on tiny 16/18mm sinks are lower Lumen bins, therefore not good for me ...or you maybe?
Other Thoughts:
Bottomline: Get them while you can! Buy at least the min, and pair them up with the 10 deg 5 pk DX also sells, sku#01920
Pros: This is a genuine Q5 Cree XR-EOh, and it's pre-mounted on a star, making it that much more useful for modders, no need to solder the Cree itself which is so easily damaged that way.
Cons: Need soldering skills to use for any application. Err, what else does the 500 character limit have going for it rather than making me blurt random stuff as filler to get to the limit.
Other Thoughts: Go for the smaller board versions and avoid having to file it to the right size for a small flashlight.
Bottomline: Get more of these suckers, you can't go wrong with the price. What's with the 500 character limit when people who can't think of that much to write is going to fill up to the limit with random junk like this.
