Pros: Nice volume, but not as loud as the original X mini max.. volume seems to be good for a small 10m by 10m quiet room.. not boomy/no clipping @ max volume from an ipod..
Cons: No volume control.. could be a tad bit louder for outdoor use.. when plugging the DC plug into my USB charger, the speaker batteries output power! Notice this when my charger indicator lights lit up even though I haven't plugged it into the wall socket.. I'm not sure if this 3.2v will damage my USB ports but lucky I use an external cheap USB wall socket charger..
Other Thoughts: Great for portable use in a confined area.. like in a car or at a chalet, quiet poolside, picnic or the calm beach! Run times are great.. probable 2 -3 hours of use.. though haven't extensively tested the run time..
Bottomline: buy, but its not as loud as the original X mini max.. for 1/4 of the price, it's a steal!
Pros: SmallRechargeableSimple to useThis is a really useful item to have for travelling. It is fairly light, small and has rechargeable batteries (5v so USB is fine too). The sound quality is fine for holiday by the pool or on the beach and the sound is surprisingly loud without being harsh. Extended there is also 'some' bassBuild quality feels reassuringly solid.
Cons: Not audiophile quality (but what do you expect from an egg 3" high by 2.5" wide!).Not sure how long the expanding bellows will last (it opens and extends to give better bass)The bass is only just present.
Other Thoughts:
Bottomline: Overall, a great little item to take with you. It is loud enough for casual listening without being harsh and is well worth having as a travel accessory.
