Staff assessment:

It is ideal for home, office, and travellers as it doesn't require much space to operate and won't interfere with any typing actions. It works by strapping to the index finger with button operated by the thumb. Work on any textured surface, such as clothes, pants, just like regular optical mouses.

In real life testing, we found that it takes a while to get used to a "vertical" finger operated mouse due to the fact that most computer users have never dealt with something like this. You'll need to learn to point it at a consistent angle, and also the way to use your thumb to operate the two buttons.

Mouse resolution is good for typical operations. Don't plan to use it with photoshop or action games though -- get a full-blown mouse instead. This is supposed to be a spacer saving and novel gadget that works.

Once you get used to it though (which should be fairly quick), you'll love the little operating space it takes. A must have gadget for frequent travellers who hate tiny touchpads and even more tiny IBM track sticks. You'll find it especially useful in space-contrained situations such as travelling on buses, trains, and planes.

Involvement: General (knows how to use it) - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month

Ease of Use: starstar

Usefulness: starstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstar

Pros: -can operate on legs when sitting anywhere
-scroll wheel
-solid build
-braided cable, enough length in cable
-can be used for long periods with correct grip
-very small
-accurate optical sensor when on suitable surface

Cons: -optical sensor does not work on many surfaces where a better optical mouse would (example: my desk compared to Logitech G5)
-steep learning curve
-can be uncomfortable to operate

Other Thoughts: I use it without strapping to finger. It took my awhile to find a grip that works. Biggest trouble is holding its position when clicking either button. Double clicks are especially difficult unless you have a good grip on it.

Bottomline: Only buy if you like cool gadgets, if you feel up to a challenge, or often work such that your legs are your only mouse pad.

Pros: - It took less than 15 minutes to get used to this.
- Getting used to writing with this on took a little longer, maybe a couple of hours, but now i barely notice this anymore.
- At work i have really small space for mouse, so i was barely able to use one, but with this, it's a bliss.

Cons: - Wire gets in the way sometimes, might just need getting used to.
- The point where the elastic ring attaches to the mouse presses against your finger, and it starts to hurt after a while, but wrapping a folded piece of soft paper around your finger before attaching the mouse fixes it. (I kept this on the whole day yesterday, and it didn't start to hurt with the paper in place)

Other Thoughts: Scroll wheel doesn't function as a third button (i use it for pasting text), but (at least on linux) you can configure 3 button emulation (ie. clicking left and right button simultaneously generates a middle button click instead), and with the positioning of the buttons, it's really easy to use, so nothing actually lost there.

Bottomline: Real easy to operate and really light. I think this is going to replace my normal mouse for me. (That, or i'll try the wireless version of this)

Pros: This is great for my EeePC, as in some places where a mouse is too big to move around the entire screen. The mouse moves around pretty fast around the screen so you don't have to work as hard, but you can probably change that in your mouse settings.

Cons: The only problem that has occured is that it may not work on all surfaces. It works best on a smooth surface, some times rough jeans become a little bit hard to maneuver with.

Other Thoughts:

Bottomline: I would recommend it for people who use it for travel and light mouse work. It won't replace a real mouse but it will help a lot especially if you don't like touchpads.
