Ownership verified by DX Acceptable for the Price

Involvement: General (knows how to use it) - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month

Price: starstarstarstarstar
Ease of Use: starstarstarstarstar
Build Quality: starstarstarstar
Usefulness: starstarstarstarstar
Overall Rating: starstarstarstarstar

Pros: Function
-it works out of the box(after you charged it)just like they said it would(with some exceptions here and there)
-jams GSM900 band straight away(but depends on the proximity to the target mobile phones and cell towers and exact frequencies specific mobile carriers used)
-if tweaked a bit,it can take down 802.11 wireless LAN connection(at certain distances)
Build Quality
-small enough to be concealed(antennae were a bit minus.Personally I don't think they are fragile, still, internal antennae,(not possible with the current metal casing,I think) would be cool as in more expensive models DX carries but then again, effective range might be reduced)
-solid construction(metal casing)
Shipping
-the package was labeled gift and comes through registered airmail as well as traceable as this item is worth more than USD 15 and delivery was prompt.

Cons: Function
-won't jam GPS and bluetooth(but these were not included in the affected frequencies list,so not really a con)
-some GSM900 mobile carriers were not jammed completely(might be their particular frequencies)
-GSM1800 band was jammed but not as complete as GSM900(proximity might also be an issue)
Build Quality
-the charger input hole was not correctly aligned
-I charged using my computer's USB hub,and one night I forgot to take out the charger jack when I shutdown my computer, and in the dark, the USB hub was lit up from the backward flow from the unit's battery,so be careful and take out the charger jack when finished
-when plugging in the charger, the charging red light has a mind of it's own, have to wiggle(actually 'wrestle') it somehow to get it light up red
-internally,the battery was glued to the PCB and was connected to the PCB by 2 wires soldered a bit poorly(some other model available on DX,may be sku.4355 but can't remember exactly, has snap-in sockets)
-becomes hot if you turn it on for quite some time
-after 1 week of being brought along and used while commuting, the battery was jingling inside the casing(probably because of the glue holding it in place got heated and dried after getting hot from charging or usage)
-the unit I received has no 'QC passed' sticker and missing the fourth screw(right beside the charging input hole)as shown in the pictures

Other Thoughts: Function
-it works, but more transmission power would be welcome because in a city where plenty of cell towers exist,it won't work even within 3ft of a mobile if there's a cell tower close by
-CDMA and 3G not tested
-DO NOT try to modify/tune(turn the pots)this device unless you have necessary knowledge and equipments,in fact, don't even think about opening up this unit unless you know what you are doing(if the unit is not working to your taste, try rearranging the antennae first)
-some carriers which use both GSM 900 and 1800 will be difficult to be jammed,as in my case,my cellphone when jammed at 900 switched to 1800 and when 1800 was jammed,it went back to 900 and somehow escaped jamming altogether(don't really understand how it escaped jamming when it came back from 1800 to 900)
-personally,I don't think the antennae should not be equal length as they represent different frequencies and thus wavelengths(that's the reason I chose this one over sku.4355 in the first place)
-short bursts of operation recommended because of the heat produced and exposure to ?high RF(especially for paranoids)
-it's worth more than 30 bucks when you get a chance to shut up people who really annoy you but be mindful about their own rights as well as emergency calls and not to mention that it might be against the law(Remember, with great power, comes great responsibility, but that's for Spiderman, not me or you though)
-a circuit schematic would be very helpful to max out of this device but that's a trade secret...still at least some info on the way how the pots control the frequencies will be greatly appreciated(may be DX can sell a copy of circuit schematics, rolling my eyes though)
-DX should sell the batteries because sooner or later, the batteries will become a problem

Bottomline: -if u have some money to spend and were interested in mobile phones and RF stuff, you should buy it,especially if you were annoyed by people who speak too loud on their mobile phones, for too long while being too close to you and if you happened to be too tired and sleepy
-best used on moving vehicles, effective range on a moving train and bus were up to about 12 ft(~4 meters),but limited functionality inside buildings especially in downtown areas
-it is cheapest on DX(so far up to now)...I searched the net high and low already
-I really appreciate that this is available here at this price(otherwise I would have to resort to verbal/physical confrontation with people who do not acknowledge that there's a limit a tired person can endure prolonged and exceeding auditory stimuli)
-Yeah...it's payback time!!!(but with a bit of control on your side)

Pros: It works really good. I`ve checked GSM and DCS and it works perfect. It jamms cell phones in whole room in spite of that I have Base station in 250-300 metres of my house. Also I`ve mentioned that it jamms my DECT phone, if they are in the same room. The battery is quite good, doesn`t seems to discharge by itself. I charged mine a week ago and it is steel working!

Cons: Charging takes quite long time, for mine it is 5-6 hours, but I can`t say that it is such big con. Also you may have to buy an adaptor, if you have another type of power outlet, but I charge mine from PC.

Other Thoughts: I did not tried to jamm 3G or CDMA, so I can not say anything about how it works.

Bottomline: As an engineering student I can say you that it will be cheaper ONLY if you will make something similar by yourself) But it is quite difficult to do it by yourself, believe me, I know. So if you want some silence near you, just buy it!

Pros: This Black version of the 20db model works quite well. MUCH better than the small 3 matching height antenna unit range wise. Not sure if it's the antennas or the actual inner workings. Any of these are MOST effective at disrupting (after about 3-10 seconds)most people's cell phone calls in the USA and Europe I've found. So far has disrupted everything from every carrier in the USA to European only Vodophones I've tried. And they don't "disconnect" the person, when you turn it off or move out of range, the call continues so you're not really hurting anyone imho, IF used discreetly and obviously not around a hospital. DX is correct that it only disrupts the "downstream" end of the call and does NOT completely cut off the person. I'd buy this unit JUST FOR THE ANTENNAS which are much more effective than the smaller 5 or 7 band unit's antennas.
THIS version is also MUCH better built (so far I've ordered/owned 3 different DX versions of this type of unit) and is MUCH CHEAPER than the same type of unit which sells for over $300 in Europe or online IF you can get them into the USA. So far NO probs with DX due to their mildly legal "mislabelling" and PAY the 2 cents to remove their logo, however customs IS so jammed that odds are your order WILL get thru or the customs guy would actually have to charge it and figure out what it does.....So buy it.
You CAN'T beat the price. And you DO get more than what you pay for. Is that a 10000 characters yet? And I'm incredibly WORDY usually due to what I do anway (write reviews sometimes for work LOL!)

Cons: Workmanship is a hit or miss on ANY DX product I've found, as is actually receiving what you ordered on the smaller stuff as sometimes it's back-ordered and not marked as such. The Workmanship on this BLACK version of the 2odb is 10x BETTER than the workmanship on the silver sku xxx14 version as is the on/off button manufacture and placement. This one looks like it WON'T break on me after 3x but we'll see....The USB to 2.5-3.0mm type charger is neat looking BUT, it does NOT fit well and does NOT charge at all quickly so find yourself a Nokia comparable phone charger (I just accidentally had the right one from a throwaway prepaid Nokia phone.
The included AC charger does NOT fit well at all and you HAVE to jiggle it to get it to work so I just use my Nokia phone charger instead as DX states. The AC Charger will also DRAIN the battery IF left plugged into the UNIT but NOT the wall-AC jack!!! You'll SEE both the red & green lights lit up and the power going back OUT of your SIX hour + for a full charge on these batteries. I do NOT know if the AC charger works when the unit is ON as in the car the LED goes OFF when you turn the unit on. Would be nice to know if it was still charging while using it as with the 20db unit you CAN interrupt someone in a car next to you with a window down YELLING into their bluetooth or cellphone. The NET10 model NOKIA SIM CARD PREPAID Cellphone charger WILL WORK WITH THIS! What I use and NO power probs so far on any of my now only two working units. Silver one has the same guts I'm betting but is BADLY designed and a total POC! The SKU xxx14 SILVER 20db version of this has a similar button to the smaller version which BREAKS but appears to have the exact same PCB guts as this version (haven't taken this one apart as do NOT want to void the warranty, yet, and until I can get home to test it thoroughly and back to my pro type electrical tools. Gone working still, Happy NY everyone!) Other than the size of the unit's antennas (I've already ordered the internal antenna version as well before deciding on which one to recommend to the now 20+ people and counting as EVERYONE I know that I show this to (I am discreet) WANTS ONE. FYI IF you have a Verizon BlackBerry Curve or similar model, it will STILL SHOW that there are FOUR BARS or whatever signal strengh there was before BUT when the person tries to call out! TADAH! NO CALL OUT! For some reason ONLY the BBerry does this! My Motoberry, Sprint, Motoflip type Verizon based phone WILL show when all the bars get knocked out. Again THIS DOES NOT DISCONNECT THE PERSON! ONLY THE DOWNSTREAM IS INTERRUPTED AND THE PERSON CANNOT HEAR THE OTHER END! For a large area unit, I've already figured out how you could build a completely LEGAL unit as it would be completely PASSIVE and not ACTIVE which is what makes this illegal to use NOT own as far as I can read the USA import laws or you must have MALICIOUS intent. Just FYI. Or use it in an area where cellular services are necessary, i.e. I would NEVER even carry this near a HOSPITAL or other emergency area.
Oh, and my INITIAL SILVER SKU xxx14 unit's battery COMPLETELY LEAKED DOWN from a FULL CHARGE in UNDER six hours! And the button broke, etc. etc. Think I just got a lousy one. Again THANK YOU DX. GREAT CS!

Other Thoughts: OK, given that I used to BUILD these things (read my incredibly wordy post on the silver version site as I bought that shoddy imho model first! FYI DEAL EXTREME WAS VERY GENEROUS AND NICE ABOUT GETTING BACK TO ME AND RETURNING IT AND EVEN OFFERED TO COVER SHIPPING. THANK YOU DEAL EXTREME! THAT KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE MAKES ME WANT TO CONTINUE TO PURCHASE! AND I WILL!)
So many other thoughts.....:-) LEGALLY, you COULD get away, as DX does by describing it as a "Wifi finder" as it basically "knocks out" everything else so you then you could easily find the Wifi OR on the older/smaller 7 band unit, for some reason THAT one DOES DISRUPT WIFI which I found out by accident when I had the older unit turned on by accident when in a library with wifi. Actually it HELPED me as they had to RESET their routers so I was then able to hook up due to routers NEEDING to be reset every once in awhile, especially when you have lots of anonymous users hooking in (hey I could access someone else's apple laptop's entire HD and printer access I found out in these open setting so make SURE you have at least a basic firewall or network monitor turned ON! It WOULD be VERY NICE & PROFITABLE for DX to SELL REPLACEMENT ANTENNAS as my small unit's MOST IMPORTANT DCS ANTENNA BROKE VERY QUICKLY. I DID resolder it back together using special flux+solder (hey, I'm an IT geek/gadget nut & again BUILT these until it became financially unfeasible to do so as well as finding the necessary adjustable RF pots became just about impossible and would usually get you a visit if you ordered over 20 of them from the FBEYE!! Back in the tech paranoid pre-Y2K!! & I'm Asian with a little too much free time and education :-), & I've been running R/C cars/planes/whatever now for OVER 25 years so I know a LITTLE about electronics, ASIC design, PCB's and capacitors et al. I DO wish that the PCB inside these units had an easily identifable/REMOVEABLE Capacitor so I could crank up the POWER in my units. However I did find a fix to that, you'll have to read all the way to the bottom for that and it's very eezy! sorry sleep deprived and I don't spell check)it, although I leave ALL soldering to my son as he's MUCH better at it & also a tech geek! He's used the smaller unit in his class due to ALL HS students cell phones going off every 2-5seconds it seems and it's ANNOYING. Or worse at lunch or etc. I've witnessed this and it IS annoying, especially GIRLS (no offense to the gender but they're the ONLY one's I've seen due this) be literally FIVE feet (sorry USA education, don't now metric, maybe 1.5m?) away from each other and STILL need to use their cell phones instead of just talking to each other. Cool factor I guess. HE uses it just to make a little "cone of silence" around him when he wants to study while at school or even in the library at school. Public schools in my area simply SUK! And DON'T ban cell phones or any other gadgets. He carries his older DS model into class & his teacher doesn't even know he has it on, OR that you can take cellphone pix and send them to friends of tests which LOTS of kids do. And yes, I HAVE shown this to 2-3 law enforcement friends and they know about them and use MUCH nicer versions of them and FYI just about ANY PD in the USA or EUROPE can track down ANY 911 caller simply by their cell's GPS location. Reason why I NEED these, otherwise I have to crack EVERY cell phone I own and disable the GPs sendor unless I receive one where I can turn OFF the transmitters manually which I can on my personal phone. Some financial inst. are stupid tho and give me an "electronic leash" cell phone usually Nextel PTT so they can find me, reach me whenever they want while on site but DON'T UNDERSTAND that using these will GIVE AWAY their location! I've had to explain this about 30x now to clients/banks/YOUR CC companies at their UN-disclosed processing/call/cold/hot sites! which is WHY I was interested in this in the first place OVER 8 years ago BUT the $300+ COST of the euro version or modding the only Nokia old analog phone you COULD modify into a jammer was just too much of a pain and after the 2nd Federal employee interview :-( I got sick and TIRED of this even if theoretically I had a clearance for this type of device!!Local law enforcement is especially NOT that smart about tech stuff unless they're into it!!
So to sum up. ORDER THIS ONE & ORDER THE SMALLER 5 BAND VERSION, FIND A NOKIA HOME CHARGER & you'll have it ALL done for about $70 TOTAL including BOTH UNITS. The ANTENNAS on the SMALLER 5 band model LIMIT the range greatly but it is MUCH easier to carry even with the larger antennas and the battery does NOT LEAK DOWN AS BADLY AS THESE DO!! However to be honest with my son, I DID replace the smaller one's battery pack with a Lipo battery pack available at any serious R/C store (expensive though). We swapped in a 3s (3cell)800mah Lipo battery which holds a FULL charge for up to a WEEK, however you either have to mod the CHARGE jack (you can't charge lipo normally and Lipo batteries are VERY DANGEROUS if OVER-Charged or you KILL them if you leave them UNDER .9v for any amount of time!DO NOT DO THIS UNLESS YOU KNOW YOUR LIPO BATTERIES & you MUST use a LIPO specific charger, available on DX btw which I plan to try as I'm tired of paying for the ridiculously expensive hobby online ones). BUT with an 800mah Lipo pack, now our SMALLER one has a little MORE range, but with a vm draws about the same charge and the 3s 800mah lipo pack lasts easily a week without re-charging and while using it constantly for short periods and now does an almost "instant on".
OK, sorry for the verbiage. Here's MY fix for EXTENDING your range on ANY of these (hey there's gotta be one know it all jerk on each site right? TRY not to be a jerk tho.:-)units! And I've tested it and it WORKS. SO worth it and I've proven to myself that on cell phones I can pick up an extra bar or even with NO bars showing, I can still hear clearly and place a call on my cell when in LOW coverage areas. WILL NOT WORK in NO coverage areas tho. Just EXTENDS your range on ANYTHING with an antenna.
1. Take 1 of these stickers and stick it to the INSIDE BOTTOM of the CASE (IF you're willing to void the warranty and due to the cheep quality of the screws, especially the silver model screws which are TIN basically and PAINTED/USE GOOD SMALL SCREWDRIVERS, preferablly carbontipped pro electrical screwdrivers. Something that WON'T strip out the screws (we'e since replaced 1 unit's screws with R/C aluminum anondized screws to stop this prob. And it looks cool according to my son who did it LOL.)
STICK one ONLY to the INSIDE of the case or use as many as you want. I find that TWO placed NEXT to each other at the BOTTOM of the case work the best and AIM them in the SAME direction!! Reinstall the PCB board and then your antennas (you'll probably want to check and make sure that your OEM battery pack IS hotglued or otherwise attached to the board as MINE WASN'T and was just hanging from the soldered on leads.) We did a range test after we did these to the smaller unit and found that it at least 2-3x our range. They HELP but do NOT replace real longer antennas. However now even with the SMALLER antennas in place we pick up an extra 5-15 feet of use on ANY device with an antenna on it (even a brand new radar detector which has a passive horn antenna)and they're CHEAP. OR you can stick them to the OUTSIDE flat side and they'll do the same thing! Just make sure the top part is aimed at the antennas. No I'm NOT advocating taking your DX unit apart for ANY reason. ONLY unless you know what you're doing and are willing to void the warranty. The ONLY reason I took my SILVER version apart was due to the button cracking and then the spring shooting out from under the button (same button as the small one NOT the black/this version).
Geez, that should be easily 10000 characters. I should get paid by the word :-).
Enjoy and I hope that explains most of it. If not try Wiki. They have a very good article on how any of these units work!

Bottomline: BUY THIS UNIT & THE SMALLER 5 BAND UNIT AND ENJOY. ALSO IMHO BUY SOMETHING VERY CHEAP THAT'S NOT ELECTRICAL IN NATURE, like the pig keychain or some kind of legal tool or whatever so DX can LEGALLY "mislabel" your package for customs and PAY the 2 cents for dropship & removal of the DX logo!! Even though it only removes the DX logo and you STILL get the same RA Kowloon HK COMMERCIAL DISTRICT address, it's WORTH it. Customs just doesn't have the TIME or manpower to open items that are labelled "wifi finder" or even "hardware tools" and it's worth the $2 and you can always find something for UNDER $2 that you MIGHT want or need in the future. As already posted I DO have a cousin who works for customs in NY which is where I got the above statement about manpower/percentage.
Enjoy Y'all. Now someone figure out how to get DX to pay me to try out their mildly illegal tech gadgets. :-) And sigh, if they ONLY sold REAL radar jammers! PASSIVE are NOT illegal.

Ownership verified by DX Seems to work quite well.

Pros: Seems to work very well in Australia (at least on my wife's phone with Optus). Placed the jammer outside and it knocked out her phone inside the house from just over 10 metres away. Walls do affect the jammer's ability. In an open area I think the range could be 15-20 metres.

Cons: Same as all the others. Button can be pressed too easily. needs an o-ring glued around it for protection.
Antenna mounts are very fragile.
Not too sure about charging from the car charger as I couldn't get a proper voltage reading from the output. It's supposed to be 5v but I couldn't get an accurate measurement.
Suggest buying another mains USB adaptor as I don't trust the one supplied.
Takes about 6-7 hours to fully charge before auto cutoff.

Other Thoughts: Came packaged in plain white plastic and marked as "Gift". These are illegal to own in Australia, but it came through customs unopened.
Charged it for 5 hours (computer USB) and the charge light didn't go out (battery stayed cold). Took the thing apart and the battery measured 3.95v. I charged it for another 2 hours and during that time the charge light went out, so the auto cutoff works OK. Voltage measured 4.02v (Fully charged should be 4.2v, so the charging is OK)

Bottomline: Excellent value for money and it seems to work as it's supposed to. For the price I don't think anyone could do any better.
But be careful of the car and mains charger!!
