Pros: I needed a webcam but didn't want to spend too much money. I found this one and bought it. I am very happy with the result. The image is clear and has bright colours. Some of my friends which have more expensive webcams think that mine is much better than theirs... I also bought a second webcam for a friend of mine who fell in love with it! The six lights around the webcam are useful, although I never use them because the image of the webcam itself is very clear and bright and doesn't need the light. I am very satisfied with this item and I will suggest my friends to buy it, whenever they want to buy a webcam.
Cons: Maybe the only cons is that the clip is not very stable, if I need to find a cons.... ---cons--- ---cons--- ---cons--- ---cons--- ---cons--- ---cons--- ---cons--- ---cons--- ---cons--- ---cons--- ---cons--- ---cons--- ---cons--- ---cons--- ---cons--- ---cons--- ---cons--- ---cons--- ---cons--- ---cons--- ---cons--- ---cons--- ---cons---
Other Thoughts:
Bottomline: Very good item! I am very satisfied with it!!!
Pros: -BRIGHT LEDs--great picture, it really seems to give a much higher quality than 1.5 megapixel, that's for sure, I wonder what it really is?
Cons: -There are no cons. This device is a great one -- I hope they stock it for a very long time!
Other Thoughts: The price point is great, the shipment was fast, and I plan to order more. Thanks!
Bottomline: 5 stars all around for another great DX device. Buy this before you buy a different camera, because of all the cameras I've bought from DX or online, this was by far the best. I am saving up to make more orders for home security.
Pros: - No driver needed (XP Pro SP3).- Very decent image quality.- Handles low light conditions well even without LEDs turned on.- Nice casing made of actual metal.- Good clip.
Cons: - Image is fairly blue and close to impossible to correct in the settings due to there being no whitebalance option (the box claims this is automatic, but if so, it doesn't work so well).- LEDs are blueish, which makes them rather less useful than they might have been.- The 'adjustable' LEDs have three settings on mine; Off, Too Weak and Too Strong.- No driver, manual or info whatsoever in the box and the cam doesn't even appear to have a name, so it's difficult to find the drivers yourself.- Face tracking (with driver installed) doesn't appear to work.
Other Thoughts: Even though it works very well without a driver, I wanted to find the driver to see if it would help correct the image colours. It took me three days and I had to open the cam too. The chip is a Sonix SN9C288AFB, which is not listed on Sonix Inc.'s website, but I eventually managed to determine that the drivers for SN9C25x (filename: VideoClassUSB20PCCam_v5.8.29000.0.exe) should work with it and they do. They can be found here: http://www.sonix.com.tw/sonix/downloadSearch.do5MP snapshots (interpolated), zoom, various silly effects and such work. Facetracking does not appear to and the image settings don't offer any more (maybe a bit less) than the Windows driver, so it may have been a wasted effort. It's not needed, at least. Some of the reviews state that this cam has a mic built in, but mine definitely doesn't (I didn't expect it to either, so this is fine). As an aside, it took about two months before the cam arrived, apparently due to the Chinese new year and other interruptions, but I'm glad I didn't cancel my order.
Bottomline: I am quite happy with this cam. The quality is on par with cams I would expect to pay 5-6 times as much for locally. The colours could be better, though.Build quality is also much higher than I would expect for this price. And most importantly, my partner, who's the one who has to watch it, is very happy with it.
Pros: Build is good.It has a thumweel intensity control on USB cord.Very adjustable. After I found 168 driver on-line and ran the install, it worked good!I'm running WinXP MEAdjustable frame rateto 30hz and capture features.Has a compond optics 80mm to oo.
Cons: No instructions or website on the box.Found this model(I think) on the web locally and had instructions and a 3"driver CD.
Other Thoughts: On the box reads "Shadow series"; I guess that's the model and company becausethat's the only info it came with.It uses Sonix SN9C288PFB chip and the driver I found that works is 168
Bottomline: I bought it because it was plug-n-play but as my luck goes is NOT.But other here had true driverless install if I'm understanding what they wrote.Cheers
