Pros: Light output is very bright if used with 14500. Torch is build solid. Seems like a car can run over it and it'll still be fine (did not actually test). Minimalist design.
Cons: Finicky switch. Size is a little bigger than what I expected for a AA flashlight. Weird triangular light pattern when used with the assault crown. Get EXTREMELY HOT very quickly when used with 14500 on high setting. A little more expensive compares to other lights sold here at DX in the same category.
Other Thoughts: The first impression I got when I received the item was WOW, this thing is big. I don't own any other AA sized flashlight except for the Quark Mini AA so when I compare this to that, this thing is huge! Secondly, the switch on this torch not only rattles a lot (cannot be tighten down or else it will not work) but also it is very sensitive. The button switch will change mode at the slightest touch and after a few accidental touches, the result can be annoying. Thirdly, since the flashlight is a little on the big size, there's no way for you to carry it comfortably without a holster. It's not by any mean, an EDC. Especially with the assault crown attached. And lastly, the heat generated by this thing is rediculous. You can actually burn your hand if you leave this flashlight on high for more than three minutes.
Bottomline: Given all the drawback of this flashlight, I would not recommend spending twenty two dollars for this torch. Oh by the way, the lanyard I got was not the one shown in the picture. The one I got was black instead of grey and it was way longer than it needs to be to make it useful.
Decent light, but not as nice as I'd hoped

Pros: * Very nice aesthetics -- it's a very attractive gadget.
* Good selection of modes. High medium and low are all clearly different settings. Strobe is decently fast, which creates a mild strobe effect on the eyes. SOS is potentially useful in a survival situation.
* Has a nice heft and weight. The build quality seems very nice, except for the switch.
* Has the voltage range printed on the side, which is nice if you have a lot of lights, and can't remember which ones can take Li-Ions, and which can't.
* Bottom end design allows for the light to tailstand. However, when the lanyard is attached, it interferes with this...it can still stand on a flat surface, but it is unstable.
* No problems working with a protected 14500.
Cons: * The LED is off center, creating an uneven beam profile. This may vary from unit to unit, however.
* The assault bezel seems to have no practical purpose. The idea of using a light this size as a weapon seems ludicrous, and the bezel severely alters the beam profile, turning it from a circle to a triangle.
* The switch button is a bit loose, and rattles when you shake the light. However, the rattle only happens when the light is off...when the button is depressed to turn the light on, the rattle vanishes.
* The light is certainly not 220 lumens. It compares decently to other lights rated at around half that.
Other Thoughts: * For some inexplicable reason, there is what appears to be an Autobot logo on the side. Depending on whether or not you're a fan of the Transformers, this could be a pro or con.
* The lanyard that comes with the unit is one of the nicest I've seen bundled with a budget light.
Bottomline: Depending on the current price, this may or may not be worth buying. At fifteen dollars or less, I'd recommend buying it. Anything more than that, and I'd say look around for a better deal.
Sweet, but not so bright as 220lm

Pros: Nice view.
Cons: This is not 220 lumen.
Tail cap sometimes works not clear.
Cylindrical shape is not so comfortable, this is fee by nice view.
Other Thoughts: Battery current in
"Hi" (1xAA) are 0.6A
"Mid" (1xAA) are 0.3A
"Lo" (1xAA) are 0.1A.
0.6A x 1.3V = 0.78Wt battery power consumption.
0.78Wt / 3.2Vled * 0.8(driver effectivity) = 0.2A LED current.
Iled = 0.2A instead 1.2A, that is why luminosity so small.
May be 1x14500 liion solve this problem?
Bottomline: Sweet worth. Liion accumulator would be better (more light) than 1.5V AA.
Solid thing with good design

Pros: Steel; cool shiny metal body; metal switch cap; bright; clear lens and reflector; water tight o-rings everywhere; nice lanyard. Powered only by one battery.
Cons: Price :-) And heaviness, but this is not really cons.
Also I think it can be little smaller.
Of course, there is no 220 lumens as announced, but it pretty bright though.
Other Thoughts: Assault crown and strap included. Head o-ring is glowing in the dark after switching-off :-)
Bottomline: Solid thing with good design. If you want good pocket flashlight and not spare money, this would be a great deal.
