Pros: This is a good host for lasers. I need to build my first one and this is the host that I turned to. The metal body is great and allows for good protection. The board is easy to access and easy to utilize. Even if it is not modded then this is still an amzingly bright flashlight for the cheap price.
Cons: The metal treadings are very good but take a bit to make sure they are securly screwed on tight. Otherwise this is a good flashlight and makes a good host. Just make sure that if you are using it as a regular flashlight that you use the 3 volt batteries and not the 3.6 volt ones.
Other Thoughts:
Bottomline: Good price and good build. Excellent for modding such as lasers. Very bright and durable.
Pros: this flashlight is lightweight, easy to use, very strudy, and i would say trustworthy to use in the rain. i use this flashlight and have used it in the past when camping, and even rafting. and i takes cr123 batteries!
Cons: there are not very many cons due to its high build quality.one problem i had was one of the o rings were half ripped so i replaced it and all was well.
Other Thoughts: i would recommend this to any users that want a good long lasting bright flashlight!
Bottomline: buy it and show your friends then they will buy it!
Pros: -The most incredible build quality-Super bright-Easy to use-Can use 3V CR2 batteries(See Other thoughts)-Easily modded into a laser-The price can't be beat-Mostly waterproof
Cons: -It can't run off of 3.6V CR123A without a mod.-No O-Ring between cap and glass to completely water seal it.
Other Thoughts: I bought 3.6V CR123A batteries with this to use for a laser but I wanted to see how it lit up. I didn't want to burn out the bulb with 3.6V batteries so I tried two 3V CR2 batteries. You will need some kind of spacer to do this, I used the little chink of alluminum from inside the shake-charge flashlights and it works great. This is the best built and brightest flashlight I own. I will definently buy another for my own personal use.
Bottomline: Great flashlight. Buy two, you'll love them both.
Pros: I bought several (7) mxdl 5 watt for Do It yourself project : The build quality is perfect (metal, no plastic), switch is back the lamp, power is very bright, design is perfect for homemade laser or using as simple lamp =)
Cons: Can't use with cr123a rechargeable ( work, but one of my 5 mxdl lumiled died with 2x rechargeable)
Other Thoughts: We can easily add 2x diode 1N4001 in the circuit to use the lamp with rechargeable, all part are accessible, just unscrew, a pleasure.
Bottomline: Thanks you DX to provide us nice stuff ! price are Top !!
