Pros: a tester like this is an absolute must-have when creating your own cables. it is simple, cant go wrong with it, and tests not only network (RJ45) but also USB. also possible to test fixed cables (through the house) by using tester and receiver apart.
Cons: light/cheap feeling to it, but it works. battery is a bit loose in its compartment, but easily fixed if necessary.
Other Thoughts:
Bottomline: when making your own cables, get something like this. frustration and puzzling why your cables dont work, just isn't worth it for this kind of money.
Pros: -Good price -Allows for 1 person to wire and test category 5 or category 6 cable installations and jumpers.
Cons: -Cheap feeling and light.
Other Thoughts: I used this to install category 6 wall jacks throughout my house. Worked perfectly and allowed me to test my connections by myself. I was also able to make and test some short category 6 jumper cables with this thing too.
Bottomline: Worked great and was cheap but probably wouldn't stand up for professional or long term work. A fine purchase for DIYer looking to save a buck.
Pros: -Test RJ45 cables, RJ11 with the given adapter, and plenty of usb cables.-You can use the tester itself, or the terminator, if your cable is stuck into a wall.-Easy to operate, actually on auto mode, operate by itself. ^^-Or you can use the test button.-Diodes are bright, you see clearly the results, two rows of them (9 for each row) one (total 8) from every wires and one for the ground.
Cons: -Build quality is not "awesome", plastic smell (burnt plastic, so maybe some people will like, other won't), makes many noise when you take it, when you press button, 9v battery moves freely...-No other cons, as it makes perfectly it's job.
Other Thoughts: -Again some thing to put in your computer toolbox, now you know if the problem comes from your computer, or the cable itself.
Bottomline: -At this price, give it a go, love this thing, leds are bright, so put any cable on it, and you can decorate you Christmas tree the g33k way.^^
Pros: USB tester works great and the RJ45 tester side also works. But you get the qulity of what you paid for.
Cons: It made for the home use i would get a better one if i doing it for a bus application.Battery not included.Easy to test RJ45 cables, difficult to test RJ11 though, it came with two small plastic adapters to fit the RJ11 plug into the RJ45 jack but they didn't work
Bottomline: Well it does work like it says. Also for the price that it is here you get what you ordered.
