Pros: - Quite cheap (when compared to the competition)- Nice colors and contrast- Stylish stand
Cons: - I have ordered two of these - the first one's bundled batteries leaked all over my desk and the second one refused to be recognized by the computer, so beware that QC with these units is... well, there is no QC to speak of.
Other Thoughts: - It used to be hackable by the "picframe" project over at Sprite's, but is not anymore
Bottomline: - If you get a working unit, it is a great gift- It amazes me how cheap these 128x128 LCDs and ST2205u CPUs can be
Pros: Nice display, easily hackable as an extra display for your linux computer/htpc/whatewer.It's really nice that it can get power through usb, so you won't need batteries if you're going to use it as a computer/htpc display.
Cons: The cable included broke after plugging it twice (the cable was rusty and brittle)It seems that the chipset changes with each order, so you may get an unit that's not easily hackable as the one I got.
Other Thoughts:
Bottomline: Get it if you need a cheap, little, extra display for your computer (but beware you could receive a different one)
Pros: - Cable, batteries (2 x AAA) and software included.- Comes in nice box.- Good choice for gift.- You can store up to 72 photos.- Automatic slideshow or manual mode.- Can be used as alarm clock.- Can be powered from batteries, or USB.
Cons: - Very small display.- You have to use included software to upload photos.- Manual is inaccurate.- Frame counter is always displayed - you can't turn it off.- Keeps turning off after 3 minutes when operates on batteries. You have to power it from USB if you want it to work continuously.
Bottomline: Nice digital frame - probably good choice for gift.
Pros: Clear display.Easy to use interface program.Menu items easy to use (except alarm)Displays picture and time or day, date and time on blue screen.
Cons: Menu item Alarm isnt the same as printed instructions. I cant seem to make it work. Cant turn off frame count on display.Cant turn the device off while connected to powered USB. It restarts within a minute.Black border was loose in box and needed to be restuck down.
Other Thoughts: Not sure how I would use mine as a travel clock as once disconnected from USB and turned off from menu can only be restarted by connecting to USB.
Bottomline: 70 % happy with this purchase. Not being able to turn it off when powered by USB and unable to make alarm (Frame on/off) work was disappointing.
