These units come with 9V batteries so they are ready to use off the shelf. The DT9205A model is capable of measuring more precise currents than the A830L model is capable of. Bottom-line: if you need a small unit that does it job, get A830L. If you need a multimeter that will meet your future needs and don't mind investing a couple bucks more, get the DT9205A model.

Pros: small and efficient
came with a backlight when you press a button
nice usability for many applications
english manual was helpful
on and off button better if you forget to turn off like other models where u have to bring the clock type thing to the 12 o'clock stage
hold button enables perfect readings for quite short amounts of time
came with a stand
many different test settings
came with two coloured test leads so very easy to tell apart which one is positive and which is negative
 
Cons: mine came with slight damage to the frame where the blue and orange meet
 
Other Thoughts: quite small screen
 
Bottomline: very good overall i have given it 5 stars

Pros: Small and handy multimeter!
Very bright backlight!

Cons: Broke down after 3 weeks of using! :( But it was my fault... i forgot to change range! Now it shows only "-" sign on display!
 
Other Thoughts: Bought another one with auto range in my local store for 30$...

Bottomline: I would recommend to buy one with auto range (sku.9636) so you doesn't have to change them manually!

Impressive Basic Multimeter

Pros: The build quality is excellent for the price.  It's rubberized to protect it from damage while it's bumping around your toolbox.  The resolution is very wide, so the meter can be used in a number of applications.  The backlight is very handy, and really bright to help you read the screen.  The included leads are very nice looking.  They're stamped for 1000V, but you should probably err on the side of caution.
 
Cons: For my purposes, I couldn't ask for a better item.
 
Other Thoughts: It even has a readable English manual.  The fold out stand is a nice touch.  It comes in a retail box, with all items individually wrapped to keep them from scratching.
 
Bottomline: This is an excellent basic-function multimeter.  For the price you can't go wrong.  It feels like a very nice instrument.

Pros: Very good built thing, i like it soo much. Fits in my hand and has a stand on the backside. Has a hold button and backlight. It is out-of-the box, battery is included, so it is totally ready for use. Has a great weight i mean you "feel" the device not just see it in a good way of course.
 
Cons: None so far for me. Maybe some pros are missing the temperature mesurement functions or something, but not me :)
 
Other Thoughts: I'm just a beginner in electronics so don't know if the capabilities of the device how nice.
 
Bottomline: I would recommend this to anybody who needs these kind of things as much as i need.

Usage Instructions

Insert the BLACK lead to the COM slot and insert the RED lead to either the mA(AMP) and Voltage(VOhm) slot to measure amp and voltage figure. Dial the dialer to obtain different measurement unit.
