Pros: This will really get peoples attention as their are no retail PSP's that have this faceplate. When I walk around sometimes random people will just stare at it for a second, so it's cool because it attracts attention. The plastic doesn't feel delicate, which originally made me hesitate to buy it, plus I dropped it and nothing cracked or broke. It's really nice to be able to look at the wiring etc in the PSP when your bored.
Cons: If you buy this, prepare to take your PSP apart again every few weeks or even days to clean dust out, because there is 0.40 mm (approx.) space between the plate and your screen, which is big enough for dust to get in pretty quick. The same goes for the button holes and the joystick hole. Also, mine didn't have the holes to put all of the PSP's screws back in, so be prepared for the faceplate to not tightly fit.
Other Thoughts: I think that the producer should take note of the cons listed above because they do decrease product quality, but they would be extremely easy and would not require any more money to fix.
Bottomline: A great cosmetic enhancement for the PSP, but the build quality isn't that great. If you care more about performance and ease of use than looks, I reccomend you keep your original faceplate.
Pros: Been using till today, it hasn't spoilt. However alittle dusty on the underneath which makes the psp look ugly. In fact it looks like a real $ony faceplate. The glossy finish, the logos, everything superficially looks fantastic. I like the $ony lettering since it made the psp look authentic even after changing face plates.
Cons: None at the moment. I would like to try other face plates.
Other Thoughts: None at the moment.
Bottomline: This is definitely a must to buy, for the price and the look. Do get the other accessories like the buttons and stuffs.
Pros: -Looks very cool-Almost identicle to the original faceplates -all the text is there-Dont really need a tutorial to take it apart
Cons: -It is pretty hard to align all the holes to fit perfectly.-The holes arnt perfect. My analog stick hole is more to one side, so I can only move to the right half way-My [] O ^ X buttons are messed up now-The menu, start ect doesnt fit perfect-easy to get dust on when assembling
Other Thoughts: -I will have to pull my faceplate off again, as the screws under the battery doesn't even hold anything on, and I have hair under my screen.-It took me a while to figure out I had the Directional button rubber thing upside down, so it wouldn't work xD
Bottomline: -If you want your PSP for performance, I would keep the original faceplate, as the buttons are now abit messed up. If you want it for looks, this is perfect. It doesn't really make that much difference, but it is noticable.
Pros: This faceplate looks good. In fact it looks like a real sony faceplate. The glossy finish, the logos, everything superficially looks fantastic. With silver buttons and the silver trim, it looks pretty nice. At this price, there really is no going wrong, just buy it and try it.
Cons: The button holes are awful. Just awful. They are all slightly too big. The square button rolls around like a joystick and the d-pad actually rattles around slightly. With such a loose fit, the buttons feel quite mushy. Infact on the dpad you can notice the gap of space around the buttons, I feel this is almost a deal-breaker. Also, the screw posts are not threaded, so you really have to crank down on the screws during assembly to get them to bite. This is not a big deal, but with such small screws, the possibility of stripping them out is high. Also because of this the top two screws have actually forced the top trim in the center up about half a millimeter -(The section that covers the usb socket) it's practically unnoticeable, but frustrating nonetheless. I feel some rudimentary instructions should be added for those that might dive into the project without doing research. Guides are found easily on the web though. A very small screwdriver is a must on this project there is absoltely no way around this so BUY ONE NOW!
Other Thoughts: I'm looking into using thin nylon washers to glue under the faceplate's button holes to correct the size issue. The washer would corral the button into proper alignment. If I get around to doing this, I'll post the info and results in the forum and most likely as a discussion below on this page.
Bottomline: Although the faceplate has poorly shaped button holes (d-pad and face buttons), the price combined with the superficial quality of the product make it a good buy.
