Pros: This is actually a fairly well built gyroscope, it has very free wheeling bearings, so spins a long time. It includes a pice of string( I know, big deal) ; however, the price is worth the look on a child's face, when you have them hold the string and balance the gyroscope on the string. Of course, it defies everything they have seen. Like any gyroscope there are lots of neat things that can be done with it.
Cons: The only con maybe, a little hard to hold while trying to wind it up.
Other Thoughts: Really fun toy
Bottomline: A must have toy to teach youngsters about gyroscopic action.
Pros: The gyro spins for quite a long time.It lights up like a UFO.The units appear to be able to be stacked as there is a ball and pinion on opposite ends of the gyro but I can't vouch for how well they stack.
Cons: I gave it a 4 out of 5 for the Usefulness, because it makes annoying happy birthday music when spinning.
Other Thoughts: It contains two button cell batteries, a small centrifugally activated switch, a piezo speaker, a doughnut shaped weight, and a chip that generates an annoying happy birthday tune.
Bottomline: I took it apart to check out if I can disable the happy birthday. You can! Just snip one of the black wires connecting the speaker to the green Printed Circuit Board and the music will never bother you again.
Pros: Fun entertaining little toy.
Cons: Strap that comes with it doesn't fit in box which makes it hard to give as a gift.

Bottomline: good deal
Pros: Fun toy to introduce the kids (or adults) to the gyroscope! Lights and sounds keep my 1 1/2 year olds attention and because of the gyroscopic action he can balance it on the end of a pencil!
Cons: Plastic body seems a little flimsy, but I haven't had one break. The song can get a little irritating.
Other Thoughts: Comes with a pull strap which is more convenient than the old string, but does not fit in the box they came in...?
Bottomline: Great inexpensive gyroscope with lights and sounds!
