Ownership verified by DX Good but doesn't last long

Pros: This is a nice card reader and fast as everyone says. The attached back cover is a decent touch since it's one less detached part to keep track of.

Cons: The card read stopped working after a year of infrequent use. I used it maybe once a month on average. I don't know if it lasts based on time since production or frequency of use, but I would imagine it would die even sooner if it was used more frequently.
Also, it's really fat and takes up the USB port beside it of they're spread horizontally like on some front ports.

Other Thoughts: The other (non-SDHC) card reader I got from this site, which looks the same and presumably is made by the same company didn't make it a year either. And the company knows that people probably won't try to get a refund since the units are so cheap.

Bottomline: Good for a quick fix, but won't endure in the long run like better quality card readers will.

Pros: Fast. One of my SD cards is 150x and this reader does not slow it down.

Cons: No cons. I bought three and all three have been reliable and durable.

Other Thoughts: The price is good based on the reliability I've experienced with the three I purchased. Some of the reviews were a bit critical of the size (big). In my experience, although there are smaller readers around, the size of this product is not a problem at all.

Bottomline: Good product. Does what it's supposed to do. It is fast and has been reliable/durable.

Ownership verified by DX works fine with 512M, 8G and 32G cards

Pros: Works nice and fast (usb2.0 fast) with all cards I have. (Tried 512m, 8g and 32g).
Works fine with TF cards when using adapters.
Works through my DX usb hub.

Cons: Only one cover is hinged, and it looks flimsy (but works fine)
Only works with SD/MMC/SDHC/TF(with adapter), no xD, no MS/MSpro/MSduo, no CF. (But dx has some that do.)

Other Thoughts: Not tested with sdxc since I don't have any.
Get an adapter for TF cards (and maybe one for mini-sd if anyone uses that, that is).

Bottomline: Cheap and very useful, so buy at least one.
Nowadays, SD cards are the cheapest.
(Then, if needed, look for one that does xD and MStick or CF.)
Check the 8GB microsd/tf card from DX at approx twenty bucks. It comes with an adapter and it fits this reader ok.

Ownership verified by DX Good simple reader

Pros: Pros
Works perfectly. Tested with 4gig cards in linux, OSX, windows 2000, and windows xp.
No drivers or setup necessary on modern OSes (Linux, OSX, XP, etc). Win2k needed a driver, but that was expected.
The reader is small enough to fit in even the smallest camera bags, but it's not so small it's easy to loose.

Cons: In my opinion the only con here is the caps. I could do without them: I keep my camera/gadget bags clean of dust, dirt and lint.
Some people say the size, but if it were smaller, it would be too easy to loose in a cluttered bag. I don't think it's a con.

Other Thoughts: I got it for my dad. He's never had a problem with it, and I see him use it all the time.

Bottomline: A dirt cheap, solid tool. It does exactly what it's supposed to with no frills or distractions.
