Pros: This is an awesome product a very pleasant surprise. It set up just like that. 7.9GByte file transferred in 5:36, that is 1.39 GBytes per minute. That is around the maximum IED speed. For comparsion, eSATA to eSATA on my system 3.23 Gbytes per minute, internal Sata to Sata is around 2 Gbytes per minutes. Note: for file transfer, we used gigabytes, includes system overhead.
Cons: No complaint no compaint. all cables are included.
Other Thoughts: I would be trilled if they have SCSI to SATA, IEEE to SATA...
Bottomline: Really happy. DX makes my day. (Sadly not the case for the Lithium battery I bought, still testing)
Pros: *Worked with all the devices I tested with- Maxtor Dimondmax 9 80Gb- Seagate 7200.10 500Gb- Western Digital WD400 40Gb- Sony / Nec Optiarc DVDRW AD-5200A- Asus DVD-E616A- Lite On DVD SHW-1635S* 100% Vista x64 Compatible.* Doesn't Seem to affect DVD Read/Write Speed At All.* 100% Plug in and Go, Detected in Bios as Native Sata Device.* Stable, No loss of connection / corruption of data in transmission.
Cons: * Hard Disks will have a performance hit Going from the speed of UDMA 5 / 6 to UDMA2* As mentioned before if your using it on anything with metal on the rear protect the drive and your Converter with a little Electric Tape.
Other Thoughts: Not bad at all, Will order more especially for IDE DVD drives to be converted to Sata for the better airflow that Sata cables offer.
Bottomline: Worth the small Price.
Pros: Good to be able to use old PATA IDE drives on a newer motherboard or controller card. I've used it with both hard drives and a DVD-RW and it worked well.
Cons: The only one that may cause a problem is the closeness of the circuit board to the metal casing on some drives. As already noted by another contributor this is easily solved with electrical tape.
Other Thoughts: Some drives seem to work OK in "Cable Select" mode, but others require the jumper set to "Master".This inexpensive little converter paid for itself in the first few minutes of use for me. I initially bought one of these a few months ago, more or less as a tool box gizmo. I must admit I was skeptical at first based on the price compared to other units available here locally, but it works as advertised. Save the planet, don't throw away those old drives, adapt them to SATA!
Bottomline: Works great for me.I now have two more on the way. What more can I say?
Pros: Great price and looks nice, i read a few reviews down that it might short, so i covered it with electrical tape to stop that issue. It says that it does not need a driver, but for some reason it wont set up properly?
Cons: Ok build quality, but still sturdy. I still cant find a way to make it work. I'm not sure if its a driver issue or if this adapter is dead, but I'm still searching.
Other Thoughts: Can anyone help me??
Bottomline: Good price, once i get it running im sure it will do what i need it to. A few errors with the build but over all a good product!Recommended for anyone who only has SATA ports on their MOBO.
