Pros: It allows you to hook up a 2.5" Hard drive to a 3.5" ribbon cable to connect to a computer.
Cons: Not best build quality.
Have to be careful not to have hard drives move around or they can disconnect.
Other Thoughts: I bought it to access my work laptop hard drive in case I have a catastrophic failure with the OS or sector failures with the hardware in hopes of recovering data. Only thing I don't care about is having a ribbon cable hang out of the computer to have it connect to the hard drive.. but what can you do? It's low cost option to do what you need to do. Since I've had it I did switch to a USB version, but of course that was able to connect to SATA, 2.5", 3.5", etc drive.. but it wasn't as cheap.
Bottomline: It works. If you just need to connect to a 2.5" this is the way to do it.
Works!

Pros: works. just connect one side to your 3.5" ide ribbon cable and the other side to the 2.5" hdd. the adapter seems to be transparent to windows, tested on XP and Win7, meaning that windows will detect the hdd directly and act as if the adapter wasn't there at all (no intermediate driver to install). other adapters will need to have their own drivers installed first before windows detects the hdd.
Cons: the device's board is exposed so you can't put it near any metal surface while operating or you risk shorting out the circuits. also, connecting and disconnecting the device to a hdd or a cable makes me very wary as the connectors look like they might break with any normal force.
Other Thoughts: i got this thinking that i could unlock a locked laptop hdd but no dice.
Bottomline: it is a good product that works as advertised. but using the device requires care as the build is almost surely very fragile.

Pros: - Converts a 2.5" hard drive to 3.5" IDE so you can replace a hot 3.5" drive with a cooler 2.5" drive.
Cons: - Build quality is not the best. I have this adapter in my linux-based gateway. If you bump the top of the computer the adapter looses contact with the hard drive causing the hard drive to power cycle. Turning the computer on its side solves the issue as the adapter doesn't break contact when the machine is bumped.
Other Thoughts: Very useful for what it does and the price. Build quality is not great, but the price is right.
Bottomline: Good price, invaluable purpose. Build quality is so-so.

Pros: wow, this is the best device ever, specially; when i am fixing and backing up data from laptop on my 2.5" harddrive now and then. and it is very useful to have around the desk. every computer geek should agreed on this.
solid performance. worth buying. thanks DX
Cons: nada.
Other Thoughts: well, the device quality well made, very solid performance. nothing to complain about. the price is right, better than my local computer store.
Bottomline: well, nothing much to say, just keep the price low, and i will be back for more.
thank DX
