Pros: Big screenGood speakerComes with cable to connect it with your car, for house plug-in (220 v) and computer USBYou can install any GPS software in the SD card (I installed at the same time Garmin Mobile XT, Mio Map v3.2 and Navitel Software)Can play MP3Can see videosCan read some filesBatteries never seem to dieTouch screen is niceComes with Win CE 5
Cons: It is not easy to install GPS software, it is really really hard!Does not have an external antenna plugInternal antenna is not too goodWin CE 5 is in chinese
Other Thoughts: I think it is a great thing to have in your car, it is very useful. After 1 day of trying, I could install Garmin software and my country (Chile) map in it.Anyways, I have installed Garmin Mobile XT, Mio Map v3.2 and Navitel Software
Bottomline: I love it!In fact, I just bought 3 more of these
Pros: Easy to use GPS device, can also be used as a pocket entertainment center to play music, video, read books and look at your favorite pictures.Comes with Wall charger, Car charger, USB cable, windshield holder.
Cons: Comes with a Chinese language manual, but who needs this manual anyway, the device is self explaining to use.
Other Thoughts: I had to find the good GPS software to make it work. Finally I found a Miomap V3.2 version for PNA (make shure you search for PNA, not for PDA). After I edit some file Miomap works perfect.i think a lot of software will work with this unit like tom tom or igo.
Bottomline: Great GPS and entertainment device for a awesome price
Pros: *Very nicely packed and presented. Could easily be given as a gift as-is.*Build quality is pretty solid. There are very minor inconsistencies in the casing, and the on-off switch is slightly loose, although these are only very minor issues.*Nice responsive screen, can easily be used without a stylus.*On-board speaker is quite good, with voice-guidance instructions coming through loud and clear.*Car-mount is very good quality. Adheres strongly to the windshield and holds the unit firmly in place. Is adjustable in both the vertical and horizontal angle, although only the horizontal angle is easily adjustable. (See cons)*Very easy to get working. Just had to source a copy of some GPS software and some maps, then copy it to an SD card and off you go.*Can easily try different kinds of navigation software (if you can source it) and pick the one that suits you best. I use MioMap v3.3 with no issues at all.*If you get a big enough SD card, you could easily use this as an in-car entertainment unit, especially if you pair it with a FM audio transmitter or if your car head-unit has an AUX input.*Although I have not tried it myself, this unit is easily modifiable and can be unlocked to run WinCE programs and games. This would also allow you to have differnt navigation software on the unit at the same time, which is a good feature if you prefer to use specific navigation software for certain conditions/locations.
Cons: *Battery life is okay, but could be better. Not an issue if you only use it in-car as it comes with a car-charging adapter.*Unit does not save the time in memory. Slightly annoying, but at least it is able auto-synchronise the time with a satellite when you enter your navigation software.*Came with an EU rod-style power adapter with an EU-to-US (parallel-pin) plug converter. Would have been great if it came with an Australian plug, but it's not a major issue.*It can be charged via USB, but the charging rate is very slow and the unit never seems to reach a fully-charged state using this method (charging LED does not change from red to green). I would definitely recommend only charging via AC adapter or car charger.*Movie player is not able to play movies with AC3 audio. More of an inconvenience than a real con, as you would have to convert the audio stream of your movie to mp3 to be able to hear it.*Windshield mount is not easily adjustable in the vertical direction as two thumb-screws must be untightened before you can adjust it. Only a minor issue because if you always mount the unit in the same position then you only really need to adjust it once.
Other Thoughts: Overall this is an excellent buy, though it might not the best unit to get if you want it to work out of the box. Not really suited for people who are non-internet/computer saavy as it may be difficult to find appropriate navigation software and the required maps. If you're one of these people then it might be better for you to get sku.8333, or ask a friend to help :)
Bottomline: Great unit, even better price. If you need a cheap GPS navigation/in-car entertainment device and are not afraid of doing a little work to get it working then this is the GPS unit for you!
Pros: This is an awesome unit. Poor mans Tomtom.Out of the box easy to run Tomtom by simply adding it to the sd card. Awesome user community for hacking the os. Australian Buyers, This unit will run Tomtom 6 with the Latest Sensis R14 maps, IGO with the same sensis maps, MIOMAP with the same sensis maps and Route 66 with older maps. The included video player will play divx out of the box. Videos can be 320x240 at about 400kbps for best playback. Also easy to install other video players of ce apps. The car windscreen mount is very sturdy and the unit hasnt fallen out yet.
Cons: Battery Life not the greatest, but who cares it comes with a car charger. Wish it had bluetooth
Other Thoughts:
Bottomline: If you want a cheap Tomtom buy this unit. Google for SY885 to find forums and other info on how to hack this unit. Definitely worth the $$
