Ownership verified by DX Issues with the fit, but not insurmountable

Pros: Fits on the drive, only adds a few mm to the length so fits in most places that a normal IDE drive will fit like mobile racks and old xboxes.

Cons: The board can flex on the sata plug, allowing the solder side of the power plug to touch the body of the HDD shorting out the power supply. I applied some thick double sided tape over the board to protect it. Took 2 layers before I was happy that it would not short out.
xbox takes a long time to boot, and will often show HDD failure code on a reboot, but from power off it is fine.

Other Thoughts: I have not seen the slowness problem that others have or the high error rates - thats not to say that its not happening just that it works fine for my use in the old xbox.
The unmarked jumper in the corner is to set it to master, otherwise it shows as a slave. There are 2 leds on the back for power and drive activity.

Bottomline: If you think you need it, get two because another use will always come up for it. I have only tried an old 200 gig drive in the xbox so far, but with good results, more room for mame roms and similar.

Ownership verified by DX Worked in my modded Xbox

Pros: perfectly small form factor. fit my application perfectly. was able to use this in my modded xbox to install a SATA drive with no problem. for that purpose alone, I'm delighted.

Cons: had some trouble with master/slave config when I tried this device in an old P4 PC. might not perform well with Windows OS or PC BIOS (not sure)

Other Thoughts: I can't say I've thouroughly tested this device in a PC and I've only used it briefly in my Xbox, but so far, I was able to build the drive in the Xbox with this device and didn't have to trim any plastic to make it fit.

Bottomline: Might be a gamble getting it to work well in a PC, but for this price, it's worth a try. For Xbox modding, this seems to have worked out really well for me, so far.

Pros: 1. Good price.
2. Connects new SATA drive to your old PC
3. Can connect desktop 3.5 inches or laptop 2.5 inches SATA hard disk drives.
4. good build quality.
5. Perfect size for 3.5 inches desktop hard disk drive.

Cons: 1. Hard drive working slower with this adapter.
2. Sad but it do not work without errors.
3. Too big for laptops drives but usable.

Other Thoughts: It works with errors and slow but sometimes it can by lifesaver!!!!!

Bottomline: Well not perfect adapter. But we can call it "must have" accessory. Buy one!!! Sometimes it can be lifesaver!!! Or better buy two!! then you have replacement if one will not work.

Ownership verified by DX Okay for UDMA/33 and slower

Pros: Nice form factor, just plugs in and works okay with Linux.

Cons: Using to adapt a SATA drive to a PATA controller, speed must be limited to UDMA/33 or slower; otherwise tons of iCRC errors reported.

Other Thoughts: Have not tried it the other way around (PATA drive connecting to SATA controller).
Two sets of jumper pads on board are not labeled or documented anywhere. These might be useful, but who knows what they are for (?).

Bottomline: Good in a pinch, but a tad slow for permanent use.
A 44-pin IDE notebook version would also be useful to see.
