Pros: Fits perfect in a Navtour G4 external antenna port.Long cable allows convenient placement anywhere in the vehicle.Priced lower than anything else I could find.Black in color
Cons: Black may not blend in with all vehicle interiors.It is a friction fit (standard for this connector type) I do not know how this will hold up long term. Otherwise, none that I can see (yet).
Other Thoughts: It just works!!I was previously unable to get a signal inside my house. After installing this antenna, I can receive 8/9 satellites.
Bottomline: An excellent buy if you can verify compatibility BEFORE you buy.
Pros: The antenna is sturdy;The cable is quite long, which can be useful for hiding your equipment behind the dashboard;The top is magnetic so it sticks on/under the hood;
Cons: The connector is quite small and sometimes lets loose when its relocated, but when not moved it stays connected;The reception is not perfect, but TomTom always shows 4/5-5/5 satellites, which is near the max.
Other Thoughts: The connector does not fit on a HOLUX GR-230, the connector on this antenna is quite small.
Bottomline: Get this antenna if you want a cheap antenna to get better and a more stable reception.
Pros: This receiver boosted my GPS signal wonderfully!My GPS unit (Harmon/Kardon GPS-300) couldn't get a signal inside my car due to the glass. Plugged in this antenna and it gets a great signal now, even with the antenna simply sitting on the dash.Didn't need to mount outside the car!
Cons: There is only a sticker covering the metallic magnet on the bottom of the unit, and it isn't applied evenly - would wonder if it would scratch exterior car paint.It is very difficult to remove from the unit - it takes a lot of force. There's basically a metallic o-ring on this mmcx connector that secures the antenna into the gps unit. While it makes a good ticket connection, I worry about breaking the cable or doing damage to the gps unit when removing it.
Other Thoughts: The supplied cord is pretty long - this could be a plus if you do need to mount it outside, but sitting coiled on my dash, it's kind of unwieldy.I thought the solar glass in my car and van (both toyotas) would completely block all gps signals, but it turns out the built in receiver in my unit must just not be strong enough. With this antenna it picks up many sattelites, each with a decent signal strength and the gps reports "high" accuracy.
Bottomline: You won't find a better price on an mmcx gps antenna - most run around $20-30.
Pros: Seems a tidy little package, good long cable and strong magnet to keep this little antenna firmly fixed.
Cons: It doesn't work with TOM TOM Go models from 51x, 71x, 91x, through to 54x, 74x, 94x.The connector is too small - or maybe TomTom have a proprietary connector - I don't know!?!Just don't get this if its a TomTom Go you're hoping to hook up to. It won't fit!
Other Thoughts: Could have the models of sat nav it will fit listed - This would help people who don't know a lot about such things!
Bottomline: I've now got to bother finding one that will fit my TomTom Go 730T!!
