Note: pictures show our 10mW model which looks exactly the same as this 5mW model. It also comes with the same gift box and accessories. Reported by a number of fellows from our forums, as most China-made green lasers do not come with an IR filter, this is the safest green laser to use without an IR filter as it outputs only 5mW of power where according to researches require very extensive exposure to cause health implications.

4/15/2006:
This green laser pointer is no joke, and you should use it seriously. No matter what objects you are pointing at, you will see a solid green laser point on it. Its laser will shoot through any transparent or almost transparent object and carry on its way. It's also stunning to see the actual green laser beam beam at night. Its only trade-off is the relative higher cost and the green laser related questions coming from your friends, family, classmates, co-workers (trust me on that one). Can't wait to try out the forbidden 10mW, 20mW and 30mW.

Overall Rating: starstarstarstarstar

Pros: This is a very nice laser for the price, the body of the laser is covered in the black grip-coating, and it it a lot more sturdy and heavy than I thought it would be.
First impressions of this laser are very very good.
It comes with batteries, and works right out of the box, that was quite convenient.

Cons: No cons that I can think of...

Other Thoughts: Included batteries are cheap, after testing it out, I threw some rechargeable ones in it.
The beam is visible at night or in dark places, and it is faintly visible during the day if you look down the body of the laser at the object you're pointing it at.

Bottomline: So, if you have ~$10 to spend, and live in the US (where 5mW is the max legal output for civilian lasers) then this is definitely something I would recommend.

Overall Rating: starstarstarstarstar

Pros: This is a great first time laser for anyone. It definately is a little overspec. But a little extra power never hurt anybody. Good duty cycle(doesn't overheat quickly).

Cons: Batteries that came with it don't work well. They have plenty of power but not good contacts, and they rattle.

Other Thoughts: Roll a piece of paper and put with batteries to keep them from rattliing. I suggest investing in some good rechargeable batteries. Just make sure to get good ones, not cheap ones. They will make a big difference.

Bottomline: If you don't yet have any green lasers: get this!! If you have a use for more green lasers: get these!!

Pros: -Great price for such a cool laser!
-Nearly as powerful as my 30mW so it has to be more than 5 .
-You can see the beam at night its really cool
-I just got this laser for a friend but im thinking of getting one for myself now.
-Better built than my 30mW because the batteries dont rattle around in this one.

Cons: No cons at all !

Bottomline: Great laser . If you buy you will have hours of fun with this laser . Well worth the money and I would advise to get this laser if you are buying your first laser just to get an idea what they are like .

Pros: Very sturdy construction. Beam visible on anything and can be used to point out stars at night. Visible for miles. Actual measured power is around 40mw which is fantastic for the price. Still not enough to burn anything but still far more powerful than 5mw

Cons: batteries rattle a little when you shake it, not a real issue though. Button can become a little hard to use after a while and might wear out faster than I expected, but thats an easy fix.

Other Thoughts: great for someone that wants to experiment with high powered lasers that lives in the US because it gets through customs just fine!

Bottomline: definitely a buy you can't go wrong for $10
